Friendship with Sri Sai

Aum Sairam

May this Thursday [Baba's Day] bring you Strength, Good luck, Success, Happiness and Joy

Make Sri Sai your intuitive companion. Entreat Him to be there all the time with you and help you in all your endeavors. Make Him your close Confident, your trusted adviser, in whom you can confide all your secrets and to whom you can pour out all your woes.

Make Sri Sai your Divine Companion, some one whom you cannot leave, some one whom you cannot fore-go and some one who is always there with you, wherever you are, whatever you are doing and whatever you are thinking.

Share with Sri Sai your thoughts and your fears, your secrets and your laughter, your life and your goals, your losses and your gains. And as you prepare yourself to rest, let Him enter your heart and lead you to beautiful dreams or undisturbed peace.

It is through friendship with Sri Sai that you realize the true meaning of friendship based upon the values of trust, faith and unconditional love.

Your friendship with Sri Sai may start as a mere imagination on your part. With belief and faith you may pretend that He is there with you. But if you practice with perseverance and certitude of faith, you would soon realize that something that began as a mere imagination in your mind, has taken shape into a living reality, bringing Him right into the center of your world and your life.

In the beginning you will have many expectations from Sri Sai and at times you may be even disappointed with His responses, for He does not think the way we think and does not act the way we expect Him to act.

Sri Sai has reasons for every thing that happens to us, which are not entirely known to us. But live in the assurance that whatever He is causing to manifest in your life is a part of His mysterious divine plan, in which the ultimate outcome can only be your good and your welfare.

He who spends his entire day in the company of Sri Sai is never lost to Him. He will take care of all his responsibilities and will look after all his needs.

In the company of Sri Sai we have nothing to lose except our pettiness and partial vision. With Him as our friend and benefactor, we have all the riches of the worlds at our disposal.

In the light of Sri Sai love and the power of His Truth, we are freed from the diseases of the human mind and the pettiness of our ordinary egoistic consciousness. He imparts to us such qualities that are only heard but not experienced. He develops in us a vision that is rare to achieve by ordinary mortals. He pours into our lives such delight and depth of experience which we can hardly even imagine.

In your friendship with Sri Sai, do not be a mere passive receiver of favors and blessings. Reciprocate with all your heart and sincerity, like a true friend, with whatever you have. Instead of seeking favors from Him, give Him every thing that you believe is truly yours. Deflect to Him every thing that comes to you as a reward or appreciation. Set aside all ideas of ownership and make Him the true owner of your life and your wealth.

Offer Sri Sai your life and achievements in the spirit of true friendship with a sense of unparalleled sacrifice. Live a life that is not truly yours but His. Live a life that is based not on your petty human considerations but on the sacred values of divine life.

It is in this giving and in this initiative; you will taste the true value a friendship that is eternal and immutable in nature. It is through this sacrifice that you become a true companion to Sri Sai. Not by seeking His favors or by using Him to further your own egoistic ambitions.

When we overcome the need to use Sri Sai for our own ends we achieve the right to enter into a true relationship with Him.

When we lose the urge to impress Him in order to gain His favors, we transcend wants and desires and become closer to Him.

When we lose everything in order to gain Him we really find in Him a true and valuable companion who would stay with us till eternity.

Sai Gives Us - What We Desire

Aum Sairam

Sri Sai, Omnipresent and Omniscient, whose leela's are beyond depiction, is seated in our heart and was always ready to accomplish his devotee's wishes. Entangled with our biases and web of karma's we didn't know what is good for us and what we deserve, we do pray to Sri Sai asking for the petty tiling of life such as wealth, children, promotion and the like, plead him to solve our problem, direct us the path and some time even put a time limit for desired results. Sri Sai, who can hear the voice of our heart, interacts with our soul, to whom we treat, as our munificent father has to act objectively. As a judge he has to decide in our best interest and wants, appreciating this own ways to bless us, what all we need is Shradha and Saburi, though it is difficult for us to understand his method of functioning, Sri Sai never abandons his bhaktas, sometimes grant our desires without asking Him and always gives us the best no matters how we are, the deeds we have done. Shradha and Saburi give us enormous peace of mind and avoid needless frustration and disappointment, when things do not happen as per our wish. Keeping our mind steady, we should continue to do our duty fearlessly and have faith in Sri Sai words.

Allah Malik

Belief and Faith

Aum Sairam

The activity of God is everywhere and always present, but it is visible only to the eye of faith. All creatures live in the hands of God. By our senses we can see only the action of the creature, but faith sees the creator acting in all things. The actions of created beings are veils which hide the profound mysteries of the workings of God. There is never a moment when Sri Sai does not come forward in the guise of some suffering or some duty, and all that takes place within us, around us and through us both includes and hides his activity. Yet, because it is invisible, we are always taken by surprise and do not recognize His operation until it has passed by us. If we could lift the veil and if we watched with vigilant attention, Sri Sai would endlessly reveal himself to us and we should see and rejoice in his active presence in all that befalls us.

It is faith which interprets Sri Sai for us. Without its light we should not even know that Sri Sai was speaking, but would hear only the confused, meaningless babble of creatures.

Faith transforms the earth into paradise. By it our hearts are raised with joy of our nearness to heaven.

Faith is our light in this life

Faith unlocks Sri Sai's treasury. It is the key to all the vastness of his wisdom.

Faith tears aside the veil so that we can see the everlasting truth.

There is no peace more wonderful than the peace we enjoy when faith shows us Sri Sai in all created things. All that is dark becomes light, and what is bitter sweet.

Faith transforms ugliness into beauty, and malice into kindness.

Faith is the mother of tenderness, trust and joy. It cannot feel anything but love and pity for its enemies, by whom it is so greatly enriched, for the harsher the actions of creatures against us, the more beneficial Sri Sai makes them for our souls.

Faith cannot doubt that if we leave everything to God, he will do all that is necessary. The more unreliable, disgusted, despairing and unsure of them our senses are, the more emphatically does faith exclaim: "God is here! All goes well!"

There is nothing that faith cannot overcome.

Faith pierces through the darkest shadows and the thickest clouds to reach the truth, embraces it and can never be torn from it.
Such faith is what Sri Sai wanted all of us to have. Let us all have true faith in our hearts and treat everyone with love.

There is a season for everything.
A time for love, and a time for peace.

Awareness of the Sacredness

Aum Sairam

When you are fully present and awake in the truth of life, you are in a state of innocence. You exist in a state of not knowing. At the very deepest level, it is as if you are seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching everything for the very first time. Try smelling the fragrance of a flower as if you are experiencing it for the very first time. Try eating just one mouthful of your next meal in full presence. Try walking through your garden, being fully present with each flower and each tree. Try being fully present with your children or your friends even if it is just for a few moments.

You will begin to feel the difference between lives lived in the mind and life lived in the joyful reality of the present moment.

I know that you cannot live in the world like this all of the time. But to spend some of your time each day in a state of innocence and presence will open you up to a heightened awareness of the sacredness of all life. This in turn will transform you. You will begin to remember who you are. You will begin to have a taste of heaven on earth.

Oh Baba

Aum Sairam

Oh Baba, You are the Moon of Love and I am your chakor, bathe me in the moon of beams of your compassion.

You are the cloud of bliss. I am your chatak, thirsty for showers of your grace.

Will you not pour, Oh Baba, the stream of your ambrosial grace in my devotion?

You are the ocean of energy. I am the garland of your waves. The ocean recognizes its drop, but drop is oblivious of the vast expanse of the unfathomable water.

Baba, You are the purport of life, the essence of knowledge and devotion. You are the liberation, the indulgence, the peace.

You are the entirety and the lone support.

You are my vital breath, the energy, the vast universe. You are capable of submerging the darkness of ignorance in blazing light of knowledge.

The world is but a stage. We are all playing our roles whether small or big.

I know for certain that in this drama You are the unseen stage director.

Baba, You have sojourned on the bank of Godavari to carry the burdens of your followers. The mundane earthly life is bereft of sum and substance. However, Baba you have attributed meaning and purpose to this worldly life.

Oh Lord, there is neither beginning nor end to your immeasurable grace. There could be no greater benefit in life than to have a companion of your order in every birth. I dedicate my flowering sentiments together with this worldly being at your sacred feet. It is for You to uplift, to rescue or to vanquish this poor soul of mine.

Let the flame meet the flame. Let the love merge in love. Let this vital sheath be offered at your divine feet. You are Rudra, Vishnu, and Brahma. You are the untarnished Brahma. You are the Guru and the Guide at the helm of my boat. Will you not lead this boat beyond the ravages of Samsar?

Sri Sai

Aum Sairam

1 Sri Sai is Love - If you must be mad, be it not for the things of the world. Be mad with the love of Sri Sai… Many good sayings are to be found in holy books, but merely reading them will not make one religious. One must practice the virtues taught in such books in order to acquire love of Sri Sai.

2 Sri Sai is True Knowledge - If you first fortify yourself with the true knowledge of the Universal Self, and then live in the midst of wealth and worldliness, surely they will in no way affect you. When the divine vision is attained, all appear equal, and there remains no distinction of good and bad, or of high and low… Good and evil cannot bind him who has realized the oneness of nature and his own self with Brahman.

3 Sri Sai is in Your Heart - Because of the screen of illusion that shuts off God from human view, lotus of your heart, you must keep the lamp of remembering Sri Sai ever burning. While engaged in the affairs of the world, you should constantly turn your gaze inwards and see whether the lamp is burning or not.

4 Sri Sai is in All People - Sri Sai is in all men, but all men are not in Sri Sai, that is why we suffer.

5 Sri Sai is Our Father - As a nurse in a wealthy family brings up her master's child, loving it as if it were her own, yet knowing well that she has no claim upon it, so you also think that you are but trustee and guardians of your children whose real father is Sri Sai Himself.

6 Sri Sai is Infinite - Many are the names of Sri Sai and infinite the forms through which He may be approached.

7 Sri Sai is Truth - Unless one always speaks the truth, one cannot find Sri Sai Who is the soul of truth. One must be very particular about telling the truth. Through truth one can realize Sri Sai.

8 Sri Sai is above all Arguments - If you desire to be pure, have firm faith, and slowly go on with your devotional practices without wasting your energy in useless scriptural discussions and arguments. Your little brain will otherwise be muddled.

9 Sri Sai is Work - Work, apart from devotion or love of Sri Sai, is helpless and cannot stand alone

10 Sri Sai is the End - To work without attachment is to work without the expectation of reward or fear of any punishment in this world or the next. Work so done is a means to the end, and Sri Sai is the end.

Allah Malik

Know Sri Sai

Aum Sairam

It is true that you give to the persons present; but if none be near-by, what could you or I do but do you remember Me before eating? Who is this me? What is the moral of this saying?

Through this, Sri Sai Baba has advised us that before the senses, mind and intellect enjoy their objects, he should first be remembered, and if this be done, it is in a way an offering to Him. The senses etc. can never remain without their objects, but if those objects are first offered to the Guru, the attachment for them will naturally vanish. In this way, all the thoughts regarding Desire, Anger, and Avarice etc. should first be offered and directed to the Guru and if this practice be followed, the Lord will help you in eradicating all the thoughts. When before enjoyment of the objects, you think that Sri Sai Baba is close by, the question whether the object is fit to be enjoyed or not will at once arise. Then the object that is not fit to be enjoyed will be shunned and in this way our vicious habits or vices will disappear and our character will improve. Then love for the Guru will grow and pure knowledge will sprout up. When this knowledge grows, the bondage of body - consciousness will snap and our intellect will be merged in spirit-consciousness.

Then we shall get Bliss and contentment. There is no difference between Guru and God. He, who sees any difference in them, sees God nowhere. So leaving aside all ideas of difference, we should regard Guru and God as one, and if we serve our Guru as stated above, Lord will be certainly pleased and purifying our minds He will give us self-realization. To put the matter in a nut-shell, we should not enjoy any object with our senses etc. without first remembering our Guru. When the mind is trained in this way, we will be always reminded of Sri Sai Baba, and our meditation on Sri Sai Baba will grow apace. The Sagun Form of Sri Sai Baba will ever be before our eyes and then devotion, non-attachment and salvation will all be ours. When Sri Sai Baba's Form is thus fixed before our mental vision, we forget hunger, thirst, and this sansar; the consciousness of worldly pleasures will disappear and our mind shall attain peace and happiness.

Messages from God with Love

Aum Sairam

Remember...

I remember when I formed you. With great care and special attention I handpicked each talent, each gift, each characteristic, each fiber of your being, until the combination was exactly the right portion—each specification perfectly in sync to accomplish my will and my purpose in your life and in the lives of all those you were to touch on the great journey of life.

I remember the moment when I breathed into you the very breath of life. The love welled up so intensely inside of Me, I could not contain it! For I knew the joy you would bring, not only to Me, but to those who would cross your path along the road of life.

I love you from everlasting to everlasting, and in you I am well pleased.

I am Love

In times of darkness; I will be your light.
In times of sadness, I will be your joy.
In times of struggle, I will be your deliverance.
In times of weakness, I will be your strength.
In times of question, I will be your answer.
In times of doubt, I will be faith unto you.—and more important than any of this, I am love to you. I love you and I forgive you.

So do not be discouraged or disheartened. Do not look back. Do not be remorseful over the mistakes and sins of the past, for the past is the past.

I have covered those mistakes and sins, and that which was scarlet shall be made white as snow. As far as the east is from the west, so far have I removed your sins from you.

In the very moment that you seek My forgiveness, in the very instant that you call out to Me, I immediately grant My forgiveness, and there is no more need to worry or fear or carry the burden yourself.

Understand everything

I am so in love with you that I overlook all your faults and failures.
I am blind with love—love that sees beyond your shortcomings and mistakes, love that only sees the good and the possibilities that others do not recognize.
I do not have a great big stick standing by, ready to wallop you at your slightest failing.
I do not stand ready and waiting for you to trip and fall that I may whack you back in line.
How could I? For I, too, walked in your shoes.
I, too, took on the cloak of human flesh that I might know and feel and understand everything about you.
I know the frustrations you feel, your every longing, the incapability of your human flesh, and even your secret sins.
I feel your humanness, and because of this, I have promised that I will have mercy upon you. My thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, forgiveness, long-suffering and compassion.

Love without limits

I wish to teach you greater love, to open your eyes to unconditional love, that you may learn about it, which you may partake of it, that you may apply it, and that you may learn to love others unconditionally.

I wish for you now to look upon each person as I look upon them—with endless love, immeasurable love, love that is past understanding, forgiving love, understanding love, unconditional love—that you may learn to love as you have been loved.

Learn to love others with the same kind of love that has brought you through many tight places—the love that has given you strength to go on, the love that has helped you to forgive, the love that has helped you to open your heart—My love.

Be happy!

The joy of the Lord is your strength!
It is My will that you find great joy and great pleasure in serving Me and loving Me.
It makes Me happy when I see you enjoying yourself, when I see you happy and laughing.
I love to see you laugh. I love to see you happy.
So be happy and enjoy yourself and enjoy life. Enjoy your meals, enjoy your house, enjoy your recreation, enjoy your work, and enjoy your times together.
For in enjoying these, you are enjoying Me. I love to see you happy. So be happy.
Don't be afraid to laugh and enjoy yourself.

Navigating the maze

As the world becomes more complicated, you must have Me to get you through the maze of these complications. You must look to Me for guidance, direction and help. I can show you things that you cannot see with your eyes. I can show you many things that you do not know.

The world will marvel at your wisdom, at your knowledge, at your understanding, if you will but seek Me and hear from Me. So do not be afraid to ask. Were you afraid to ask your father or mother questions when you were young, when you didn't know the answer and you needed to know? No. You had no fear, you just asked and they answered. So it is with Me.

Become more sensitive to Me and to My Spirit. Keep your spiritual antenna upward, always listening, for I have much to say.

Be Blessed

Allah Malik

Practice of casting and drawing chits in front of Baba?

One of the practices of some Devotees is to cast chits and draw in front of Sri Sai in an attempt to seek Sri Sai's direction in matters

I think the act of casting and drawing chits in front of Sri Sai is just a way adopted by some devotees to satisfy themselves but on the other side its a wicked sign showing that we don't have total faith on Sri Sai that whatever Sri Sai will do will be for our own benefit. Sri Sai is Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent. We should have a steady faith towards Sri Sai and surrender all our karmas to him. There is no need to cast and draw chits; it's just to satisfy our mind, which is wandering around.

Did Baba’s ‘miracle’ eye open to help Babu?

A day after a Sai Baba statue reportedly opened one of its eyes in a house at Gavipura Guttahalli, the mob frenzy seems to be evaporating.

Although devotees continued to throng near the house of owner, Babu, on Saturday morning, the frequency was low compared to Friday. The number of devotees decreased slowly and by afternoon, there were only a handful of them.

The police, who had a tough time in handling the mob on Friday, were relieved to see a smaller crowd on Saturday. Some Sai Baba devotees have camped in the house and continued with their prayers and bhajans. But a section of the devotees and on
lookers are looking at the episode with a critical eye.

One common question asked was why Baba decided to open only one eye and not both? Neither Babu, nor his family members, had a convincing reply to this question. The public and journalists were barred from going too close to the statue by the family.

Other than the family members, nobody was also allowed to touch the statue. Some devotees tried to go as close as they could near the statue but were stopped on their tracks by the family, who looked after the statue and placed offerings given by the devotees.

The entire episode of Baba reportedly opening his eye in Babu’s house has come
in the right time, the police said. According to sources, had the incident been delayed by some months, Baba would have had to look for some other house.

According to a senior police officer, Babu’s house was built on a civic amenity site and there was a long-standing legal battle in this regard.

The BBMP had filed a case against Babu and recently, the court had directed the authorities to evict him and take possession of the land.

Meanwhile, Babu is making grand plans of constructing a temple on the premises. Babu is also a close friend of a local politician and had campaigned in the recent assembly polls.

Meditate On Baba and Pray

Aum Sairam

May all of us live happily. May we all be healthy. May auspiciousness shower on us all. May not a single being be unhappy.

This is an emotional prayer. It is directly opposite to mental violence. In other words, it emanates from a heart that is devoid of hatred and is filled with love. Violence, which has its root in hatred, bears the fruit, called sin. Conversely, non-violence, which comes out of love, bears the fruit called merit.

If we harm someone out of hatred, he will suffer immediately. We will pay for it later. If we do well to someone out of love, he will enjoy instantaneously. We will reap the benefit later. The seed that we have sown now will take some time to sprout, grow in to a big tree and bear fruits. But we can not imagine how many fruits and seeds will come out of the tree, for which we have sown the seed. We will have to reap it all. We can not escape it.

Surrounded by Despair

Aum Sairam

When one feels depressed one should take the name of Sri Sai. Human beings have a tendency to feel depressed at times, while facing the pain and miseries of life. But, if such feeling of pain and misery is true, so is the feeling of joy and bliss too. One should see Sri Sai in both the situations. In happiness without wasting too much time rejoicing if we help others in getting the same happiness in Sri Sai's name or work for the cause of Sri Sai then the happiness that we derive will be more lasting. Physical happiness is momentary and once it is gone it brings sorrow as mind has a tendency to ask for the same or more happiness always, which certainly is not possible in human life. Whenever you are in sorrowful situation remember Sri Sai's words. "See what comes next". Keeping in touch with Sri Sai internally and thinking of Him reduce sorrow. By reading Shri Sai Satcharitra, by singing Sri Sai's bhajans the sorrow gets certainly lessened. In bad times one must read about Sri Sai as much as one can, meditate on Him, chant His name, sing His devotional songs and help other people who are undergoing pain and misery.

Frenzy over Sai idol with one eye open

The Sai Baba idol in the house of a merchant in Gavipuram Guttahalli area that is purported to have opened its left

Hundreds of people descended on a merchant's house in Bangalore on Friday to witness what they believe is a miracle - the Shirdi Sai Baba idol is purported to have opened its left eye.

The frenzy was such that police had to be called in to control the surging crowds.

After reports of Ganapati idols drinking milk and the recent story of a bleeding Christ, the Sai Baba 'miracle' too saw both the devout and the curious rushing to the house.

Door No. 7, Chitra Block, Gavipuram Guttahalli, which, till the other day, was a non-descript residence of phenol merchant Babu, suddenly turned into a pilgrimage centre.

With devotees queuing up to have a glimpse of the statue, the area wore a festive look with small-time traders trying to make a fast buck by selling prasadam and Baba's idols!

The devotee couple Babu (45) and his wife Lakshmi took the marble idol to clean on Wednesday evening to prepare for the Thursday puja.

The idol had some black mark on its left chin and the couple's son Dhrupad, who was cleaning the eye, suddenly felt some change in the idol - the eyelash seemed moving. The devotees were astounded and stopped the cleaning work.

On Thursday morning, they found the left eye of Baba had opened. Thursday being a day to worship Baba, the couple, along with their neighbours, performed puja.

The news flashed on Friday morning and by afternoon, the crowds multiplied.

"We had gone to Shirdi a year ago from where we bought this marble idol. It is a miracle that Baba opened his eye on Guru Poornima Day to give us darshan. It has been very difficult to control the crowd as people are queuing up to see the miracle. So we had to inform the police and arrange for bandobast," said Drupad, a II PU student.

CURIOUS CROWD:
A throng of people lines up outside the house of Babu, where a Sai Baba idol reportedly opened one eye on Friday. Babu’s son was washing the idol on Thursday when the ‘miracle’ happened

There was also a huge flow of cash as the devotees put "dakshine" (cash offering to God) after the darshan. "I am a staunch Sai Baba devotee and never had witnessed such a miracle. The idol looked like as if Baba was looking at me...I cannot forget this day," said Swamy Narayan, a resident of Hanumanthanagar, with tears in his eyes.

Policemen from two stations - Kempe Gowdanagar and Hanumanthanagar - were deployed near the house along with Hoysala patrolling teams from Bangalore South. "More than 1,500 people had gathered and the crowd was maddening.

Sadguru Charanam

Aum Sairam

In the word 'GURU', 'GU' stands for ignorance and 'RU' stands for removing that. Who is the real Guru? Real Guru is God only. Sloka says Brahmanandam Paramasukhadam Kevalam Gnanamurthim, Dwandwadeetham gaganasadrusam Tatwamasyathi Lakshyam. Ekam, Nityam, Vimala machalam Sarvathi Sakshi bootham, Bhavatheetham Trigunarahitham Sadgurum tham namami.

This verse is really attributed to Sri Samarth Sadguru Sri Sai Baba. He is the embodiment of bliss, Wisdom originated, above the twin pair of Opposites like vastness of sky; above all He is the witness of everything, beyond all bhavas and three qualities Satwa, Rajas, and Tamas. He is the Real Guru. He never craved for wealth or fame. He never feared for anything. He is our antaryami [The dweller within our Heart]. All these attributes come to the Lord Sainath. Sainath is the treasure house of all knowledge, wealth, and power of the universe. Still he behaved like an ordinary man by begging his alms. He sat in the open courtyard without fear of anything. He is the Omnipresent Omnipotent, and Omniscient God.

Faith in God being within the heart, faith in his Constant presence and Constant Guidance-these will confer courage, virtue and realization of the self. Bhagavad Gita says that if you give up all Dharma and take refuge in God alone, then He will save you from sin and wipe your tears. We have to give up the egoism that the 'doer' of all deeds and confirmed in the faith that God is the doer of every deed.

Sri Sai Baba declared Aham Atma hi Chandorkar, Sarva bhutasaya Sthithah i.e. Oh, Chandorkar I am in the hearts of all creatures.

There are no special ways to approach Sri Sai. You can call Him as Saimaa, Saipita, Saisahodara, and Saidost. According to our faith He will manifest. Koti Koti Pranams to the Holy feet of Sri Sadguru Sainath Maharaj who is form and formless.

Allah Malik

Guru - the all powerful protector.

Aum Sairam

Om Jivadharaya namaha [who is the bestower of abundant life energy to all]
Om Sarvadharaya namaha [who is the source of all power]
Om Bhakthavanasamarthaya namaha [who is competent and all powerful in protecting His devotees]

Guru is the one who bestows life and energy to all the people. The whole universe is dependent only on the power of the guru. It is said that ones Guru puts His protective hand on the devotees then no god has any ability to cause distress or anxiety to that devotee. Guru is the all knowing powerful who has the ability to take on to him the burdens, illness and problems of the devotees. Guru is the one who shoulders or carries His devotees during the times of duress. One cannot escape the actions of their past karma. Lord Sri Krishna and Rama were subjected to the past karmas so what to speak of the mere humans. But once a devotee seeks shelter under Guru, and then Guru to a great extent takes away the burden of his problems and makes the life journey bearable. The ability of a man to reflect back on to the past misfortunes with an open wisdom is purely due to the grace of guru which has made life easier for us to live even during the tough times. Let us beg him to help us to work out our karma, so that we can concentrate and immerse ourselves in the glory of the Guru and follow Him in attaining bliss. This is possible only through the magnificent of Gurus grace. There is no other power than Guru to protect the devotees. As Sri Sai said in Shri Satcharitra every devotee needs a guide [Guru] who has attained self knowledge so as to guide the devotee towards the spiritual path of the ultimate.

Sadhana

Aum Sairam

Devotees should remember the very essence of Baba's teachings that are so simple and uncomplicated, and not worry about irrelevant aspects. It is more important to remember Sri Sai. How one does so is immaterial. Importance of Sai Jaap Sai Jaap or recitation of Sri Sai's name is an effective form of Devotion.

It is said that the holy name of Sadgurus is charged with mystical power. Chanting of the holy name with single hearted devotion, love and full faith produces extraordinary power for working in Guru's service. Legend has it that sage Narada said that repetition of the holy name in the Kali Yuga would enable people to resist evil temptations. Ceaseless repetition of Lord Sai's name is prayer to Him to reveal him.

One should practice repeating his name always, sitting down, walking, and working, when bathing or taking food. Chanting while taking food makes the food become an offering to God. While bathing, the name repetition makes the water holy. While walking, the chanting makes the walking Pradakshina. Constant repetition of Sai Naam acts as an effective remedy for absorbing the shocks and tribulations of life. It provides relief to an ailing body. During distress it will either bring relief or will give strength to endure the trouble. If someone abuses you or injures you, repeating the Name will help you forget the injury and your anger against that person will vanish.

Constant repetition of the holy name will help one conquer lust, anger and jealousy. Gradually the practice will become indispensable. The Name grips the mind. You will find yourself repeating the name even during your sleep. If you repeat the name before going to sleep, you will get blissful sleep. Soon, the uninterrupted repetition passes from the lips to the heart. You begin repeating the name mentally.

Gradually the name sinks deep into your being and you enjoy blissful absorption. A good and kind thought of one who repeats the Name always, directed towards an ailing person, or someone in distress soothes and comforts the afflicted person. Gradually, during meditation one feels one's body becoming light. Sometimes one hears celestial music or dots of light or flashes appear. One has to experience it to understand the effect of Naam Jaap. The Lord Sai abides in the heart of one who takes his Name and the devotee abides in Him. The name Sai, short and sweet, is more significant than reading of religious books or following ritualistic practices.

Chinnakistna Rajasaheb Bahadur was close and with Radhakrishna ayee. Kistna and Ayee thought that doing Japam was a good idea and started doing Japam. Once Sri Sai sent for Kistna when they were doing japam. Baba asked him what he was doing. He said that they were doing Japam. Sri Sai asked him japam about whom. He replied, you know. Then Sri Sai said, do that, it is good. Japa is the best step for deliverance. Sri Sai looked at Chinnakistna and said, these devotees seem to believe that Brahma is locked up in these books. You do not do this. Always you do my smaran only. Chinna did not do any dharmic acts but his problems used to be solved.

In 1912, Chinna wanted to visit Sri Sai for Gurupurnima. When he reached Manmad, he saw huge garlands in the hands of numerous devotees. Chinna felt very depressed for his not bringing any garlands to his Sadguru, who is the ultimate to him. Sri Sai lifted up all the garlands and said that all of them are his Chinna's. Chinna felt immersed in joy for the great kindness, and love bestowed on him by Sri Sai.

Blessed is he who gets goose flesh, trembles with joy, and sheds tears of joy or whose voice chokes repeating Thy Name.

Thought

Aum Sairam

Many people are disheartened by the fear that such merger is beyond their reach in this Kali age, however much they may try. But, this is a type of weakness and nothing more. It is not a question of the path of yoga adopted; whatever the yoga path, if one has Faith in Oneself and Faith in the Shastra, the goal is bound to be won. Some pretend to have Faith in both, all the while doubting them in the heart of hearts. Each one can discover for himself the measure of his faith by the results. If the experience of merger is absent, it is due to the absence of these two.

They must be in one, as the very breath of existence. Then only can they succeed in Sadhana and attain the Aikya. Of course, those without Faith are without anything. They cannot benefit by advice. The present state of affairs is due to men losing Faith in them and in the Shastra's. Even those who claim to have the Faith do not conduct them according to the Shastra's and nourish them. Consequently, Goodness and the Sathwic quality have gone out of the world and wicked habits and degradation have gained the upper hand.

If this atmosphere is to be transformed, and if the world must enjoy security and peace, every Asthika, every pious God fearing person, must cultivate Faith in himself and in the Shastra's and practice in one's own life the disciplines enjoined in the Shastra's. Naturally, some modifications may have to be made out of consideration for the place, time and individual, but, the fundamental outlook and significant meaning should not be changed. The means by which those ideals are to be reached may be changed, but not the ideals themselves.

A child may refuse to swallow a pill, when it is in bed suffering from fever; it may clamor for a plantain instead. Do you know what to do at that time? Do not omit the pill; insert the pill inside the plantain and offer it to the child to be swallowed. Its desire is satisfied; the fever, too, comes down. The fundamental has not been discarded; it has remained unchanged; only the method of administering it has been modified.

Lord Has No Fixed Form

Aum Sairam

There was an artist who had traveled far and wide and had built up for himself an extensive reputation. But so far he had not achieved access to Krishna! As much he was anxious to seek approbation from Lord Krishna as well. With his view, one day he got an appointment with Krishna, met Him and requested him to stay still, so that he could paint his picture. He prepared the outline and told Krishna that he would get ready the final painting in a week's time. Krishna knew the ego of the painter. After a week, the painter brought a finished portrait, covered with a white cloth. In Krishna's presence, when he uncovered the painting, the painter himself was shocked at the lack of similarity between Krishna and the painting. The painter was completely surprised and asked for a week's time to get the job done. The painter tried several times but every time the result was equally disappointing. In complete frustration and total dejection, he wanted to leave the city and go away. When he was going away, sage Narada met him. Narada told him that it was silly to attempt to paint the picture of Lord Krishna. The Lord has no fixed form and He can change His face every second. Narada advised, "If you do want to paint Him, I will tell you a method which will enable you to do so." Narada whispered something into the ear of the artist. Following the advice given by Narada, the painter came back, with a white cloth covering something and again approached Krishna and told him that this time, he is welcome to change in any manner but the painting will look exactly like him. When the cloth was removed, Krishna saw only a mirror and this mirror reproduced an exact replica of Krishna. If therefore, you are imaging that God is like this or like that, it is not correct. You cannot describe God and your attempts will fail. Make your mind clear and clean; fill it with love and devotion; that will enable you to have the true vision of God.

Gain Sri Sai’s Friendship

Aum Sairam

No one is interested in you. Remember this point well. Don’t expect the world to rush to your rescue in every bad situation. It will just not happen. Be up and doing, with faith in Sri Sai. If Sri Sai supports you and the entire world opposes you, you will still succeed. But if you lose Sri Sai and gain the entire world’s support, you will yet fail. Gain Sri Sai’s friendship. It is the greatest wealth. Once you have that, peace of mind is yours. You now have everything. Fear has fled. Anxiety has disappeared.

See Sri Sai in all. Feel unified in spirit with everyone and everything. You are not separate from the rest of creation. Sri Sai is just another name for that mysterious life principle in you. Call it Life, call it Consciousness, and call it Existence. This mysterious principle is all pervading, eternal, one without cause and effect. Feel happy. Think, talk and walk in a manner befitting the grandeur of thy inner Being, the Sri Sai within you. Shed all meanness, crookedness, cunningness, selfishness which is the hallmarks of a degraded man. Feel one with all in spirit. Your life will begin to move along right lines. Your spiritual evolution will be rapid. You will have all the peace of mind you want.

Count Your Blessings#2

Aum Sairam

I've never made a fortune, and it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much, I'm happy anyhow.

And as I go along life's way, I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches, and sometimes the goings tough.
But I've got loving ones all around me, and that makes me rich enough.

I thank God for his blessings, and the mercies He's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong, my faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke, and the sun peeped through again.

So Lord, help me not to gripe, about the tough rows I have hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage, when the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings, I'm already blessed enough.

And may I never be too busy, to help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer, 'Cause my cup has overflowed.

When I think of how many people in this world have it worse than I do.
I realize just how blessed most of us really are.

Aum Sairam

Throughout life, one of the hardest words to hear is waiting. Sometimes we may anxiously wonder, "Where is Sri Sai when I need Him?" And yet we are reminded in Shri Sai Satcharitra "Why are you anxious? I will take all care of you.

Blessed are all those who wait for Him to help them. Patience is developed through faithful waiting. Sri Sai has a design in even the most difficult situations that will enable our character to become stronger. As we learn patience, we also learn to trust that Sri Sai has our best interests in mind.

Bhakti and Seva

Aum Sairam

No one goes to any place or meet any one unless he has any relations. Nor did Sai forget us, but we did forget him. Due to His grace many of them have recollected it by realization that yes the love towards Sai increased suddenly.

We ask ourselves but could not get the answer, but still our inner heart caught our feet towards Him. We walk to Him in all situations in one way or the other and our heart took us to Him. The string of love is still tied to every one.

Hence even if we run here and there still the thread is in Sai's hands. He is a string puller. He pulls his children’s through. What prayers can we offer Him where He is the sole creator preserver and destroyer.

Bhakti and Seva are two footsteps which will get us our of this loop of rebirths.

Baba says “Happiness is not at the road it’s along the roads"

Does Prayer Change Things

Aum Sairam

They say that prayer changes things, but does it REALLY change anything? Oh yes! It really does!

Does prayer change your present situation or sudden circumstances?
No, not always, but it does change the way you look at those events.

Does prayer change your financial future?
No, not always, but it does change who you look to for meeting your daily needs.

Does prayer change shattered hearts or broken bodies?
No, not always, but it will change your source of strength and comfort.

Does prayer change your wants and desires?
No, not always, but it will change your wants into what God desires!

Does prayer change how you view the world?
No, not always, but it will change whose eyes you see the world through.

Does prayer change your regrets from the past?
No, not always, but it will change your hopes for the future!

Does prayer change the people around you?
No, not always, but it will change you the problem isn't always in others.

Does prayer change your life in ways you can't explain?
Oh, yes, always! And it will change you from the inside out!

Fill Me Lord Sainath

Aum Sairam

Fill me with the fruits of your Spirit, Lord Sai
Fill me with love, so that I seek to understand and appreciate the rich variety and diversity of life that surrounds me.
Fill me with joy, so that I celebrate your presence in each and every moment I am on this earth.
Fill me with peace, so that I know how to ease those angry and sometimes violent urges that well up inside of me.
Fill me with patience, so that I stop rushing long enough to witness your miraculous work taking place all around me [and within me!]
Fill me with kindness, so that I take the extra time to help the one in need even when it isn't convenient for me.
Fill me with faithfulness, so that I place my mind, heart and all that I do in your service.
Fill me with gentleness, so that others know that I believe in a God who loves and cares for all people.
Fill me with self-control, so that I act not on my impulses and urges, but rather on my beliefs and values, which are rooted in you.
Fill me with these fruits of your spirit, Lord Sai.

Happiness

Aum Sairam

I remember waiting for my life to get easier. I thought, when I have fewer problems, and then I’ll be happy! Then I noticed something fascinating. The happiest people I knew had more problems than I did. Maybe you have noticed the same thing that people who seem to get the most out of life have often had it tough. They have lost loved ones, they’ve gone broke, they’ve suffered major illnesses and most likely, they still have big problems! But they are happy because at some point they decided happy is the only way to live. Happiness doesn’t just happen to you, like some accident. It is something you choose. You make the choice to be happy first. Happiness is a daily decision.

Refuse the Gift of ill Will

Aum Sairam

In Shri Sai Satcharitra, chapter 18, 19, Shri Hemadpant described an incident of slanderer and Baba’s lesson to him. These are very powerful words that every one in this world must digest this truth. If they understand the repulsing effect of ill feeling and hatred, then no one in this world will ever think of telling any hard words against anyone. How many times have you been hurt by what someone said about you? How many times have you doubted your self-worth because someone criticized you, either to your face or behind your back? Why do we react with such self-doubt or indignation when someone criticizes us, or says negative things about us?

I find that our reaction reflects our negative and limiting beliefs about us. If someone said something bad about you and you knew completely within every cell of your body that it was untrue, it would not bother you. You would simply shrug it off and would roll off you like water on a duck’s back.

The reason criticism upsets us is that we also, somehow, somewhere, deep within us, belief it to be true or at least we wonder if it might be true.

Once you have list of guilt’s, big and small, ask yourself and write down what belief you have formed from each one. You may be surprised at the results.

Then really reflect and meditate on these lists. Dig deep and you’ll find those belittling beliefs and attitudes then you can pull out the weeds. You deserve to have a Garden of Eden within yourself and around you, not the weeds of judgment, disharmony, and self-condemnation. Love yourself and pull out the weeds, otherwise they may pop at the most unexpected times and sabotage the most beautiful situations.

People often wonder why relationships start out so harmoniously and lovingly and then seem to sour as time goes by. A very simple explanation is that any relationship starts out with a clean state. Then, as two people spend time with each other, each starts to become aware, consciously or sub consciously, of the other’s weak points and negative beliefs. So, here again, the key is to dig up the limiting beliefs and eradicate them.

They are poisonous and can poison relationships, job situation, and life itself. There is always a solution.

We need to take matters in our own hands, and only accept and nurture those beliefs that support our perfect health and happiness.

Buddha, on one of his rounds he was repulsed by a householder with bitter words of abuse. He replied, Friend, if a householder sets food before a beggar, but the beggar refuses to accept the food, to who does the food then belong?

The man replied, why, to the householder of course.

The Buddha said, then, if I refuse to accept your abuse and ill will, it returns to you, does it not?

Beloved Saibandhu, let us consider following the policy of refusing ill will and hatred from the world, then we will find the whole universe is harmonious and glorious.

Choosing Your Path

Aum Sairam

When God created humankind in the divine image, the highest expression of that image is the power to be a decision maker. In this sense, one is never complete, but is always being formed by the decisions we make. If this be true, God casts the responsibility on us to choose that which is best for us. These choices come inevitably from the judgments we make about what reflects our highest selves.

Each one of us is a unique person, with gifts, abilities and desires that give us the opportunities for creativity. To discover who we are and what those deep desires of our hearts mean gives us the clue to making decisions about what we do with our lives. If we choose wisely, we will experience the joy of growing a self and offering it as a source of strength to others. This does not mean that God is not with us in the critical moments of decision making. Through prayer and meditation, we have access into the divine Presence that provides guidance and inspiration. God is never as pleased as when we stand up and make a moral decision that reflects our desire to live at the highest and most useful level attainable.

Slow Tears

I look up as a tear rolls slowly down my cheek
I think about better days and wonder if I'll feel that way again
you look at me with those eyes I know so well always serious,
so deep and insightful as though you're always in control
But not today not now
Now you look so scared like for once you don't have the answer
I gaze at you looking deep into those hazel eyes
Hoping to understand why you've said those things you did
I wonder for a moment if this is all a dream if I shall wake in the morning and be relieved you look at me with a confusion I have never seen slowly pull me towards you and wipe the tears from my cheek

Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya

Aum Sairam

Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya
Glanirva Bhavathi Bharatha,
Abhyuthanam Adharmaysya
Tadatmanam Srijami Aham.

Whenever there is decay of righteousness O! Bharatha and a rise of unrighteousness then I manifest myself!

Shirdi Sai Baba had said My eye is ever on those who love Me. Whatever you do, wherever you may be, ever bear this in mind that I am always aware of everything you do if one meditates on Me, respects My name and sings about My deeds, he is transformed and his karma is destroyed. I stay by his side always.

If one perpetually thinks of Me and makes Me his sole refuge, I become his debtor and will give My head to save him l am the bond slave of my devotee. I love devotion. He who withdraws his heart from the world and loves Me, is My true lover and he Merges in Me like a river in the sea.

If you make Me the sole object of your thoughts and aims, you will gain Paramatma.

Look to me and I will look to you.

Trust in the Guru fully. This is the only Sadhana. Guru is all the Gods. Repeat My name. Seek refuge in me. But to know who I am practice Sravana and Manana.

Praritranaya Sadhunam Vinashaya Cha Dushkritam Dharamasansthapnaya Sambhavami Yuge Yuge.

For the protection of the good, for the destruc¬tion of the wicked and for the establishment of righteousness, I am born in every age.

Come unto Me all ye who suffer. lf you take one step towards Me, I take ten steps towards you. Put all your faith in Me I shall guide and guard you. I am the servant of everyone. You can call Me by any name, I will respond, for all names are Mine. Come, I am the repairer of broken hearts, of damaged anthahkarnas. I am like the smith who welds, mends and sets right.

Don't crave from Me trivial material objects, crave for Me and you will be rewarded.

My task is to help the devotees to live happily and guide them along the path of liber¬ation till they attain the Goal.

This is a human form, in which every Divine entity, every Divine Principle, that is to say all the names and forms ascribed by men to God, are manifest.

I first give people what they want so that later on they may want what I have come to give, namely, liberation itself.

Take as much ananda as you can from Me and leave with Me all your sorrows, I shall carry all your burdens.

How God Answers Us

Aum Sairam

Oh you who answer prayer! To you all flesh shall come.

As human beings we have an immense capacity for creativity, power and intellectual advance, and yet with all the potential and possibilities that stretch across our lives, we know that we do not have all the answers. We know that we have limitations. We know that there is a place deep inside us that will always search for the One who does have the answers who is without limitation. When we brush up against our human walls and find ourselves caged within a lair of uncertainty, fear, sickness, isolation, death we cry out to God who is beyond it all.

We know that every human being will, at some point in their lives, cry out to the heavens will pray to the God who transcends flesh. And, even when doubt continues to peek into our soul, we still know at an unconscious level that God will always answer our cry our prayer. It’s not really how God answers us that are important, but that God answers us. This alone assures us that we are never truly isolated. This alone assures us that our cages are not permanent. This alone assures us that in our sojourn on earth, we are never left forgotten like ash in the wind.

Oh God, my heart cries after you because only when I call out to you do I really accept my humanity.

How Do We See Baba

Aum Sairam

How do we see Baba? Some people go to the temples and see Him in the form carved out in a statue. Some feel Him in the Aarti or devotional songs. Some try to find him in the Shri Sai Satcharitra, as a character that affected the lives of millions. There are some who always seek for His miracles like un expected favorable happenings, un usual connections in mundane life or even in dreams. There are only a few who find Baba in all their actions i.e. Karma. The luckiest are the ones who identify their own actions as the outcome of inner motivations generated by Baba. The best devotees are those who in every motivation and action find the play of His Divine leela's.

Journey Home

Aum Sairam

Everything seeks its source. A universal principle

Our spiritual journey unfolds through 2 stages.

1. THE PATH OF PERSONALITY - We arise from the one source of all, to be born as individuals in a world of form. In this physical world, we experience separation and limitation. This is a time of immersion in a world of effects, form, ego, distortion, illusion and pain.

2. THE PATH OF SOUL - When we have experienced enough pain, we find our way back home to our spiritual source. We let go of the illusion of separation to embrace unity and wholeness. We work with cause instead of effects.

Paradoxically, it's only with a strong and healthy personality that we become capable of expressing soul.

WHERE ARE YOU ON YOUR PATH? Are you struggling to do more and have more? Are you aware of your soul challenging you to open to the bigger picture of life?

Two people have been living in you all your life. One is the ego, garrulous, demanding, hysterical, and calculating; the other is the hidden spiritual being, whose still voice of wisdom you have only rarely heard or attended to you have uncovered in yourself your own wise guide.

Allah Malik

Thoughts

Aum Sairam

Thoughts have great power.
Thoughts are like seeds you plant in your mind.

The more you hold onto a particular thought, the more power you invest in it.
Positive thoughts give us energy and strength.
Negative thoughts rob us of power and make us feel tired and strained.
We are by nature positive. Negativity is the result of faulty thinking.
You can change if you want to.
You can't control other people, situation or circumstances, but you can control what is going on inside you. It takes time to change and transform those old patterns of thinking.
Be patient with yourself.
It starts with a thought..... Today!

May the Merciful Sri Sai always shower His grace on us and our families and remove our problems and anxieties by giving us all - strength, good luck,
success and happiness with peace of mind.
