Aum Sairam
Shri Sai Satcharitra gives us the story of Sapatnekars. Mr.Sapatnekar lost his only son and was heart broken. When he went to Sri Sai and prostrated, he received a get away from here yelling from Sri Sai.
Sapatnekar continued to get this reception. Every time he approached Sri Sai until one year later, when Sri Sai was pleased with Mrs. Sapatnekar's devotion and Sapatnekar again tried to receive Sri Sai's blessings along with his wife. At that time, Sri Sai Baba explained why he was angry with Sapatnekar earlier.
Sri Sai said : This fellow blames Me and charges Me with killing his son. Do I kill people's children? Why does this fellow come to the Maszid and cry? Now I will do this, I will again bring that very child back in his wife's womb. With these words He placed His blessing and on his head and comforted him saying -These feet are old and holy, you are care-free now; place entire faith in Me and you will soon get your object.
Sri Sai often said that one has to suffer the consequences of one's past karma. Sometimes, to relieve devotee's sufferings, Sri Sai even took their suffering on Himself. Whatever we undergo, pleasure or pain, are a result of our past actions and Sri Sai does not take it upon Himself to punish us for our bad actions.
However, if we appeal to Him for help, He takes it upon Himself to reduce or eliminate the suffering by some means, which He only knows. He is there to help but never hurt.
