I thought for a while, before I could write on Sanyas. "It is to go beyond indulgence, intelligence, attachment and repression to experience true freedom..."
~ Life was divided into four progressive stages by the ancient seers ~
Brahmacharya: (The Student Stage)
To seek undivided knowledge of (Brahman) Universe, by honing the powers of the mind and also to build a strong moral and spiritual foundation.
Grihasta: (The Householder Stage)
To use that acquired knowledge to make a living; raising and supporting a family; being a good parent, friend, worker and neighbor; they happily contributed to the society, by their efforts, knowledge and actions.
Vanaprastha: (The Forest Dweller Stage)
Weaning slowly of your material possessions and comforts, the couple lived partially detached from the society, introspecting their actions, so to make amends before they step into the next stage. They also acted as consultants and guides, to the newer generations to take on the mantle.
Sanyasa: (The Detached Stage)
Unlearning oneself from all the previous Ashramas, by abandoning the ways of the world and immersing in spiritual pursuits to achieve a higher state of being and purpose. This stage made them accept and embrace the whole Earth, as their family...[वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम् Vasudhaiva Kuṭumbakam]
This ancient process produced fine individuals, who learned, worked, helped and finally gave away everything to the society at large.
Respect!
