Thank You For My Voice
Aum Sairam
Today, I thank Sri Sai Baba for the gift of my voice. Let my vocal
gifts be a living illustration of Sri Sai Baba's generosity. Let all
who hear it, hear the voice of the Father. May my words, sung, spoken,

you, Oh Sai for making me an instrument of your will.

Aimless
Aum Sairam
If you don't know what you want out of life, you will never get it.
It's that simple. How will the Universe know what to give you?
All you need to do is build pictures in your mind of what you really
want, expect it to happen, and then the Universe will make way for
synchronicity to take over the manifestation process.
As the saying goes, the world makes way for a man or woman who knows
what they want.
Upon arriving at the fork in the road, Dorothy asked the wicked witch
which road to take. The witch then replied, where are you going?
Dorothy said, I don't know. The witch then replied, well it doesn't
matter which road you take.
The moral of the story is, if you don't know where you are going in
life, you will wander aimlessly in your life's journey and Lord knows
where you'll end up.

Be Aware Of Your Thinking
Aum Sairam
There is a thought in your mind right now. The longer you hold on to
it, the more you dwell upon it, the more life you give to that thought.
Give it enough life, and it will become real. So make sure the thought
is indeed a great one.
Most of our self talk comes unconsciously from our subconscious. Yet
every thought that exists in our subconscious got there through a
conscious decision to accept that thought.
We need to become conscious of our self-talk so we can at will choose
to replace negative beliefs with positive ones. We have the power to
choose an identity we love, but we need to do the work. The process of
changing our subconscious beliefs requires awareness, diligence,
consistency and repetition.
Man is made or unmade by himself. In the armory of thought he forges
the weapons by which he destroys himself. He also fashions the tools
with which he builds for himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength
and peace.
Awareness is the key to all change. Penetrate blocks and find your
authentic self. Open to new possibilities using your imagination and intuition.

I Found Sai There
Aum Sairam
The surgeon sat beside my bed; and my friends sat across him. "Tomorrow
morning," the surgeon began, "I'll open up your heart..."
"You'll find Sai there," I interrupted.
The surgeon looked up, annoyed. "I'll cut your heart open," he
continued, to see how much damage has been done..."
"But when you open up my heart, you'll find Sai in there." The surgeon
looked to the parents, who sat quietly.
"When I see how much damage has been done, I'll sew your heart and
chest back up and I'll plan what to do next."
"But you'll find Sai in my heart. "Gita, Bible, Koran" says He lives
there. The hymns all say He lives there. You'll find Him in my heart."
The surgeon had had enough. "I'll tell you what I'll find in your
heart. I'll find damaged muscle, low blood supply, and weakened
vessels. And I'll find out if I can make you well."
"You'll find Sai there too. He lives there."
The surgeon left. After the surgery, the surgeon sat in his office,
recording his notes: "...damaged aorta, damaged pulmonary vein,
widespread muscle degeneration. No hope for transplant, no hope for
cure. Therapy: painkillers and bed rest. Prognosis:" here he
paused, "death within one year
"
He stopped the recorder, but there was more to be said. "Why?" he asked aloud.
"Why did you do this? You've put him here; you've put him in this
pain; and you've cursed him to an early death. Why?"
The Lord Sai answered, "The child, My lamb, was not meant for your
flock for long, for he is a part of My flock, and will forever be.
Here, in My flock, he will feel no pain, and will be comforted as you
cannot imagine. His friends will one day join him here, and they will
know peace, and My flock will continue to grow."
The surgeon's tears were hot, but his anger was hotter. "You created
that Boy, and You created that heart. He'll be dead in months.
Why?"
The Lord Sai answered, "The child, my lamb, shall return to my flock,
for he has done his duty: I did not put My lamb with your flock to lose
him, but to retrieve another lost lamb."
The surgeon wept.
The surgeon sat beside my bed; my friends sat across him. I awoke and
whispered, "Did you cut open my heart?"
"Yes," said the surgeon.
"What did you find?" I asked.
"I found Sai there," said the surgeon.

Confused and Unsure
Aum Sairam
The reason you feel confused and unsure of yourself is that you have
many personalities trying to get onto the stage of your consciousness.
They are all trying to be the star of the show. They will all offer you
advice for this and for that, but their job is to simply blot out the
voice of the real you, which lies patiently beneath all of the clutter
of the many voices in your head.
When you are ready and you decide to not listen to all the voices which
take up all your peaceful space, learn to quiet your mind. In the peace
and quietness which is always there when you really want it, you will
start to hear the still small voice, gently calling you to come home.
This home is always waiting for you. It is calm, still and serenely
peaceful, but above all, you must want it more than your busy mind.

Faith & Perception
Aum Sairam
Is Sri Sai Baba God or could that be He was just a man with a few
unique powers and peculiarities? This was also a question raised about
two thousand years ago with Christ, was Jesus Christ a man or a
magician? Discussions on the father, the son and the Holy Spirit' is
still a popular topic at churches all over. Where does the answer lie
to the question whether Sri Sai Baba was an ordinary man with a few
powers or the manifestation of the supreme conscious that eludes common rationale?
As to how Sri Sai Baba is to be regarded, there is wide divergence of
views not merely among religions, sects and people, but also within
one's stage of the spiritual growth. Many regard Him as both God and
man, just as in case of Jesus Christ.
Thou seemest human and divine
The highest holiest manhood thou.
Our wills are ours, we know not how
Our wills are ours, to make them thine
There are many who are hovering about this level, in their view of Sai
Baba now, disposed to submit and surrender, and pray to Him as God,
again disposed to regard Him as a highly developed personality acting
as their guardian angel or at least as a benevolent but more gifted
man, with human frailties and other human peculiarities. Some devotees,
if they analyze their perception from time to time, might discover that
they can not fix themselves to one particular view of Sri Sai Baba
always, but are involuntarily moved from one to the other viewpoints
mentioned above and even to pass beyond these, even to the extent of
doubting whether Sri Sai Baba is or is not good and powerful. Such is
human weakness that one need not be ashamed to discover his own
position in the last named class. But commonsense and higher impulses
naturally drive us to quit such a useless, nay, pernicious state and
strive to reach higher levels of faith and perception.

He Leads The Humble
Aum Sairam
There's nothing like walking across a forest floor covered with leaves,
particularly if they've been there several seasons. Sponge-like, the
ground compresses with every step, and then springs back into place
without a sound. It is seemingly inert. Probe just below the surface,
though, and you'll find a rich mélange of life decaying twigs, bits of
leaves, the remnants of insects and snails. Truly the castoffs of the
world, these are the makings
of humus, the gardener's "black gold." Inconsequential as it seems,
this material is crucial for life here on earth. It is what nourishes
plants, holds water in the soil, allows for roots to grow deep and
strong. Humus, humility, humble the connections are easy to see.
To humble ourselves doesn't mean feeling guilt or shame. Rather, it
means looking honestly at who and what we are, at where we come from,
at what we need to live. Humility enables us to be open to God, for
when we are humble, we are able to admit that our take on things, our
vision of the world, may be skewed, or partial at best. Like the humus
building on the forest floor, we become ground that is rich and deep
and ready for planting. We become soil that is ready for God.
Oh Sai, give me a heart that is humble and always eager to seek your face.

Change for the Better
Aum Sairam
In our life we do find things changing. There are people who like
change and some who do not like change. But the main thing is, change
is always for the best. Obviously, when we find our environment and our
surroundings to be monotonous or dull and drab, then we try to go for a
change. A change takes us out of the rut of whatever we had been doing,
it puts us on our toes, it gives jolts and gives us more opportunity to
learn new things and experience new ventures. It gives us extra energy
to explore new fields. We get interested in doing something new and
expecting results out of it.
Whatever seems to be the arguments, change is an essential part of the
universe. We hear so many new discoveries in the galaxy or a lot of new
things emerging when evolution takes place. Change is everywhere, in
fashion, in styles, in our fortunes, in our way of living and
attitudes. But sometimes we notice that change can be painful for those
who does not appreciate the positive aspect of it, those who are used
to living life in a same routine manner, and are usually afraid to
differ from their set rules, for them any change will be an extra
burden on their lives. So to achieve the best around us and to change our
environment, we should change for the better. Instead of groaning away
about life's unfairness or getting depress upon every small defeat in
life, we have to take the first step towards achieving something really
good. Change does not happen all of a sudden, we have to work for it.
We should try to be strong enough to emerge as an upright individual.
For this we need to be honest in our dealings with others which surely
will do the trick.

Bring Me To Morning Consciousness
Aum Sairam
Oh Sai satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, so that we
may rejoice and be glad all our days.
The silent lifting of night to reveal the dawn brings another day to
life. Each new day brings with it the opportunity of a fresh start, and
yet, the greeting of a new day is not always felt as a fresh start, a
delight, a new possibility. There are mornings that leave us wanting to
stay in the slumber of night because we must face an onerous task, or
meet with someone with whom we are at odds, or be reminded of a memory
that is too painful to bear, or remember the horrible situation we have
gotten ourselves into. Not every morning shines before us with the
brightness of potentiality. On those mornings the sun feels like an
unwelcome guest, and we long to have the darkness of oblivion close
over us again.
We would like most of all, we think, to have our situation altered so
that we wouldn't have to face what stands impermeable before us, but
changing our situation would be only a temporary release until some
other nasty circumstance presented itself. Only love - knowing we are
loved - knowing that the heart of heaven has not deserted us can give
us any sense of peace and joy on those mornings. It is only steadfast
love that is able to keep us steady in the midst of the days of glory
and the days of sorrow. When we want only to pull the covers back up
over us so that we don't have to face another day, or when we want to
throw off the covers to greet with excitement another day, it will
always be the love of God that remains unchanged and unchanging.
Oh Sai, when my heart is heavy or when my heart is light, let your love
be the first thing that brings me to morning consciousness.

Little Candle
Aum Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success,
Happiness And Joy
Once upon a time a little candle stood in a room filled with other
candles, most of them much larger and much more beautiful than she was.
Some were ornate and some were rather simple, like her. Some were
white, some were blue, some were pink, and some were green. She had no
idea why she was there, and the other candles made her feel rather
small and insignificant.
When the sun went down and the room began to get dark, she noticed a
large man walking toward her with a ball of fire on a stick. She
suddenly realized that the man was going to set her on fire. "No, no!!"
she cried, "Aaaaagghhh! Don't burn me, please!" But she knew that she
could not be heard and prepared for the pain that would surely follow.
To her surprise, the room filled with light. She wondered where it came
from since the man had extinguished his fire stick. To her delight, she
realized that the light came from herself.
Then the man struck another fire stick and, one by one, lit the other
candles in the room. Each one gave out the same light that she did.
During the next few hours, she noticed that, slowly, her wax began to
flow. She became aware that she would soon die. With this realization
came a sense of why she had been created. "Perhaps my purpose on earth
is to give out light until I die," she mused. And that's exactly what
she did. God created you and me to produce light in a dark world.
Like that little candle, we all can produce the same amount of light on
this beautiful Thursday [Baba's Day], no matter how small we are or
what color we might be. But we can't produce light until we receive it
from an outside source. That source is God, the light of the world.

idea why she was there, and the other candles made her feel rather
small and insignificant.

May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success,
Happiness And Joy
He that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken
down, and without walls.
When life is charging forward at breakneck speed, it seems nearly
impossible to have time to order and ground our souls.
We find ourselves engaged in roles and responsibilities that demand not
only our best effort, but also our greatest time and energy.
We can go on for some time without giving attention to our souls, but
the risk is great and the cost high.
We are left like a city without walls.
Disillusionment and dismay, malaise and melancholy march in like
soldiers and take control of the centre of our lives, and we are left
spiritually unbalanced, distorted, contorted.
Caring for our spiritual lives does require a measure of time and a
dose of priority, but it only takes a simple practice, not heroic
effort, in order to safeguard our souls. Try any of these:
Meditate for 10 minutes every morning, every night.
Awake with a prayer on your lips and speak to Sri Sai Baba when you
close your eyes in slumber.
Give your soul companionship with a spiritual community.
Write a letter to Sri Sai Baba every day.
Spend 30 minutes every day in nature and find yourself in Baba's
presence there.
A practice lived with regularity will not only keep your spiritual life
in balance, you'll also find you will feel the tenderness of Sri Sai
Baba and hear the whisper of heaven.
Oh Baba, let me find my rest in you on this Beautiful Thursday

Life Still Has Meaning
Aum Sairam
Happy Baba's Day
If there is a future there is time for mending time to see your
troubles coming to an ending. Life is never hopeless however great your
sorrow if you're looking forward to a new tomorrow. If there is time
for wishing then there is time for hoping when through doubt and
darkness you are blindly groping.
Though the heart is heavy and hurt you may be feeling if there is time
for praying there is time for healing.
So if through your window there is a new day breaking. Thank Sri Sai
for the promise, though mind and soul be aching, if with harvest over
there is grain enough for gleaning there is a new tomorrow and life
still has meaning.

Lord Shri Hari In Sai Form
Aum Sairam
Lo, the Supreme Lord Hari Himself has incarnated in the Sai form on the
banks of Godavari. On this very bank Shri Ram, who fulfills the desires
of His devotees, had stayed with Sita and passed his holy days in her
company. This sportive Divine actor had enacted the drama of Ramayana
on banks Gautama.
The Godavari is the Southern Ganges having two banks named after sages
Vashista and Gautama. The river relishes the sacred company of Bhagavat
bhaktas. She pours the pitchers of devotion at the doors of the
philosophy of unity of God and His loving bhaktas.
Godavari embraces Kushawarta at one side, while using the feet of
Nathas as Her pillow. She covers her body with blanket of Yoga and
Bhakti. Godavari is the stream of bliss. Nay, she is the lustrous line
of light piercing through the darkness of Tamas.
On this bank of Gomati, Lord Dattatreya poised on the enriched lap of
Krishna river has assumed the fakir from a Malanga Sadhu. The Nrisinha
Saraswati Dattatreya with three heads has incarnated in human body as
Sri Sai Baba.
The Fakir of Shirdi is unique for as He has no trace of His name,
nativity, relations, caste or creed. He is astoundingly startling in
His internal as well external nature. He is virtually the Ashwastha
with the roots sprouting upwards and the branches spreading below.
He has no locks of hair. He wears a torn cloth round his head. He has
no Kamandalu but holds a tin pot in His hand. A piece of bread is
sufficient to quench His hunger. He is the endless immortal Guru
thirsting for the devotion of His bhaktas.
His devotion has unique protective effects. His love is sweeter than a
mother's affection. His grace is just a divine love showering on the
bhaktas. He stands detached from the world but is still attached to His devotees.
Let us all sing the divine glory of Sri Sai Baba together, endlessly
without a pause. Let us praise His virtues incessantly. Let us offer
our birth and rebirth at His lotus feet. Let us become a flute on His
sweet lips.
Sri Sai Baba is compassionate Guru treading the entire universe under
His lotus feet. Sri Sai Baba is Dattatreya, assuming a human form for
performing His divine Leela's in the sacred village of Shirdi.

The Lords Primal Teaching
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba expounded the philosophy of knowledge and duty, Dnyanayoga
and Karma yoga, to Nana Sahib. Sri Sai Baba dwelt upon the eternity of
soul, transience of life and need for balanced discrimination to Nana.
"Oh Nana, this life is fleeting and mortal by its very nature, but the
soul is immortal, without beginning or end.
Ponder whence these kiths have and kins appeared? Where from have the
family and fortune come? It is one's desire that creates this momentary
phenomenon. The fantasy whirls round the body till it exists. The life,
the death and the ignorance have their source within the thirst, the
lust and the desire.
The attachment and lust assume multiple forms. The ignorance itself
assumes the changing shapes. The man in his lack of understanding
believes that he is the doer of Karma. The ego of the 'doer' creates
new Karma and blinds the human being to new fate.
Remain in close contact with the divine feet of the Lord. Surrender all
desires, lust and pride at the Lords feet. Do your duty without
expectation of fruit or honor. Let the ego of the doer be burnt in the
fire of knowledge.
Behold the form of God in everything. Treat gold and dust alike. Do not
desire for fruit of actions. Cast off attachment. Be conscious of the
presence of the Lord in every thing."

Thursday Message
Aum Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success,
Happiness And Joy
"In human life, the Guru's place is preeminent.
By keeping utmost faith in the Guru alone, everything is obtained.
A devotee's entire strength is due to His Guru.
Devotion to the Guru is superior to devotion to gods and goddesses.
The Guru is the Supreme Being."
"I bow to Lord Sainath, who by His constant stay at the foot of the
neem tree - which although bitter and unpleasant, was yet oozing
nectar - made it better than the wish-fulfilling tree. I bow to Lord
Sainath, who always takes delight in resting under the neem tree and
bestowing material and spiritual prosperity upon His devotees who
lovingly attend on Him."
The Four Rovers On The Spiritual Path
Sri Sai Baba explained to householder devotees how to earn the gift of
divine grace. The secret was to stuff and envelope our awareness [mind,
buddhi, chitta, ego] with love and faith and simultaneously purifying
body with pious humanitarian deeds, purging mind of lust, pride,
vanity, anger and jealousy. For devotees who desired instant Mukti, Sri
Sai Baba narrated this symbolic story exemplary and illustrative of His
own Guru cult.
We were four wanderers on the path of spirituality.
We searched and searched Shrutis, Smrutis, Puranas, and Upanishads. We
dived deep into Shastras and ancient lore. We squabbled and raised
worldly battles. We churned all experiences of the great yogis so that
we might have a glimpse of God beyond this visible nature. We were
seeking the door to Nirvana through books.
One of us said this is the path, where Gurus or books can yield
absolutely nothing. It requires only deep and steady sadhana in extreme
isolation. Only one's own efforts can help a sadhaka on this path of emancipation.
Mind alone is the gateway to bondage and death. The aberrations of
thought and reasoning are the sources of karmic ramifications. The Yoga
alone is the doorway to Mukti, which causes waves of desire and
sankalpa to vanish, said another colleague.
The third one remarked, Gita preaches that we can uplift or degenerate
ourselves with our own deeds. The advice of books is futile. The words
are only hollow words. They cannot impart true knowledge.
I was the only disciple who was totally ignorant of karma yoga and
dhyana. But I had no ego or vanity. My mind was full of faith for My
Guru. I was determined to reach the divine destination. I had trodden
hills and dales, gone through rains and storms, but had not found the
summit of Moksha and was full of doubts. I surrendered to Guru with
modesty and impassioned love and the Gurudev suddenly appeared in front
of Me. He quenched the thirst of My yearning heart and filled My life
with illumination.
I dedicated fully my mind, buddhi, body, doubts and ego at the
auspicious Thursday [Baba's day] at lotus feet of Guru who tied my
wavering mind and calmed the burning body. What remained was existence,
energy, bliss. My awareness merged with the Cosmic Awareness. The jiva
had risen to the state of Shiva. I was thus blessed by my Guru Venkusha.

May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success,

Worshipful homage to the Eternal and Infinite, the all pervading and
indwelling. May its grace divine be clearly seen and felt. For that
Supreme Being is of the very nature of grace. And because that Supreme
Being is all pervading, it means that the presence of grace is at all
times with us, all around us. We live, move and have out being in the
Divine Grace.
Never Despair! O man, people of hope, never despair, for grace is at
hand. Said will never abandon us. Even when we think we are finished,
that we have lost everything that all our efforts have been to no
purpose that we are defeated, beaten, routed. Even when we think
everything is lost, Sri Sai's grace comes and raises us up from
defeat to victory, from abjectness to divine triumph. Grace therefore,
is ever at hand. Hence the expression of Lord Sainath. So Never
Despair. Struggle on. Never give up.
When we think everything is lost, that help is nearest at hand, and
such a thrice so called defeat, will become victory. Grace is always at
hand. Therefore, don't quit. Arise, Awake and Attain Illumination.
That is why we are here. That is our Divine Destiny.
DON'T QUIT
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest, if you must, but don't quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won if he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds no doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.
Be strong. Be determined. Plod onwards, Heart within and God overhead.
If thus we do, we will get help from Said. In your heart have the right
attitude and plod on. Exert, and ten from God, help will come.
Sri Sai blesses you. May He give you the wisdom, the vision and the
strength to overcome all things on this beautiful Thursday [Baba's Day].

Visualize and Achieve
Aum Sairam
Most people think and believe that their thoughts originate from them,
but have they ever stopped and considered whether their thoughts,
desires, likes and dislikes are really theirs? Maybe they are outside
influences that they have unconsciously accepted?
If there is no filter to process the thoughts that enter the mind,
there is no freedom. Then all actions are like the actions of a puppet
on a string, though no one will admit it.
You may object and say that the thoughts that pass through your mind
are yours, but are they? Have you deliberately and attentively created
every thought that entered your mind?

The Easiest Path
Aum Sairam
It is said that life is a journey through the waters, sometimes
difficult, sometimes not so difficult. The guidance of the Master is
essential for the successful completion of the journey. The sail of
Guru's constant remembrance is very essential for crossing the mundane sea.
When things go astray in the material aspects of our lives, we are
reminded of the consequences in several ways. The causes may range from
habitual rash judgments to one time ego driven decisions. The results
of such actions range from subtle reminders to change our course of
actions to a major shake up forcing the very direction of our lives. A
person with a habit injurious to the physical self will wake up to the
reality of ill health at a later stage. Craving for riches and attempts
to possess them through short cut will be jolted by the ensuing
financial calamity. Yet, the power of myth is such, most fall a victim
to its peril. One may ask himself an important and curious question.
What would be an indication of a spiritually fallen? Are there any
signs that would caution a spiritual aspirant of such pathos? Well, it
turns out that there may not be any such indication.
Man is spiritual by nature. Firmly believing in this should naturally
convince the self to give utmost importance to the means through which
such a self is realized. Great souls of our times like Shri Ramakrishna
Paramahansa and Shri Ramana Maharshi were fortunate to realize this at
the right time and more importantly, pertinent enough to pursue it. As
long as one ascribes spiritual pursuit to a separate path parallel to
the material life, this can not be achieved. It should be convinced
that spiritual self is the ultimate truth that is
magnificent and the material, just trivial. Fortunate are those who
cling to Sri Sai philosophy for this is an easy way, constant and
consistent remembrance of Sri Sai, the easiest path.

Eight Verses of Prayers to Guru Samarth Sainath
Aum Sairam
It is dawn and the auspicious rays of the sun are radiating over the
sky. Whoever mediates on the Guru at this time cannot be harmed by the
pitfalls of kaliyug. Therefore, with folded hands, let us now pray to
the Guru Sainath fulfill our desires.
As the sun dispels the darkness. The Guru destroys ignorance, But the
sun cannot really be ever compared to the Guru, because darkness
gathers again after the sun is set, but, once the grace blesses,
ignorance never re appears. May the Samarath Guru Sainath fulfill our desires.
As soon as the sun rises we shake off our lethargies. Similarly, the
Guru removes all the evil desires or tendencies and, by vanquishing our
egotism. Feelings of reverence our inculcated at his feet. May the
Samarth, Guru Sainath fulfills our desires.
If we compare the Guru with Brahma, the Guru is mightier. Then why does
this comparison come to my mind as an unwanted visitor? Oh Guru your
excellence cannot have resemblance to any being other than you. May the
Samarth Guru Sainaith fulfill our desires.
Now, come out of your meditations, Oh Guru and come to the mosque, so
that your sweet words may destroy the devotees difficult. Oh revered
Guru, you are gentle and yet you are the destroyer of all the evil in
the world. May the Samarth Guru Sainath fulfill our desires.
Ah! At the auspicious time the Guru is awakened and is sitting up. With
a glance at those who are sitting at his feet. He destroys their
difficult; there are not another such well wishers in this world! May
the Samarth Guru Sainath fulfill our desires.
However wise a person is, if he does not have the Guru's blessings he
cannot understand what is good for his welfare, and can only indulge in
mere prattle. If he just firmly holds the Guru's feet with concentrated
devotion. Samarth Guru Sainath fulfils his desires.
Oh Guru I entreat you to make your abode in the temple of my heart.
Stamp upon my mind that the whole is the image of my Guru. O Lord!
Mould me and give me the power and intelligence, so that I always have
the desire to do good deeds. May the Samarth Guru Sainath fulfill our desires.

that your sweet words may destroy the devotees difficult.

This is the Day
Aum Sairam
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Each new day unfolds with the gracefulness of a ballerina gliding
across the stage in silken chiffon. There is no hurry, no staccato
beats, no harsh edges only the gentle laying aside of the night so the
day can slowly be born. As technologically and scientifically savvy as
we have become, we are not able to create that new day ourselves. It is
only and always a pure gift from the hand and heart of the Holy One.
Yet in the midst of this wondrous gift, we can find ourselves easily
inattentive, unaware, or just plain cranky about the day before us. It
might be that we are dreading a meeting, or we face another day of
loneliness and boredom, or we feel down on our luck. We can get so
caught up in our own circumstances that we miss the wondrous new day of
our life.
We may not have any way to bring a new day into being, but we do have
the capacity to find joy in the miracle of the day that has been given
to us. Each moment, each instant of that day is a sure sign that the
Holy One has not forgotten us or ceased to love us. And every moment,
every instant can be an opportunity to touch the fabric of heaven's
cloak. We just need eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that is full
of gratitude.
Oh God, when I get in a snit with life and the people in my life,
remind me that the day you have given is meant for my joy.

Sadguru's Love Compared With
Aum Sairam
Sadguru's love can be compared with love of Mother/Maa. In Shri Sai
Satcharitra Sri Sai Baba mentioned that His Guru used to take care of
Him like a mother, as He was his real Sadguru. Also Sri Sai Baba says,
Have faith in Me, and I will protect you from all sins, misdeeds and
ill fortune.
This is just like the true love of mother. Just as our mother takes
care of us, loves us, teaches us morals, our duties, the distinction
between the right and wrong, in the same manner a Sadguru teaches his
devotee the real values, the path to brahman or supreme truth. As
without mother the child's life gets spoiled, without Sadguru a
devotee's life is a waste. The way to god is through Sadguru only. The
lesson is that one should never take his / her Guru for granted and
should be thankful to God for blessing us both with mother and Guru to
show us light in the darker paths of life.

Enlightenment Notes
Aum Sairam
What is enlightenment ?
From the condition of dark space wherein the universe was contained,
once a cosmic egg was formed, followed by a big bang, and the
primordial matter was sprinkled all over the space. God manifested
himself as light. All human beings have the same light in their souls.
To experience oneself as that divine light is enlightenment.
Why do people have a problem finding themselves?
Because of emotional and intellectual dishonesty. If one is true to his
feelings and acts and faces all reactions with fortitude, then it will
lead him towards the light, which contains the ultimate truth. Relative
truths cannot give full and permanent peace.
Do you think people depend too much on other people's ideas?
Yes. They should search for themselves afresh. The only person who can
guide them correctly is a perfect master who has traveled all the way
to God.
What effect is technology going to have on the world?
Technology is also created by God, with a purpose. No creation of God
is useless. It's meaning will reveal in times to come. One who can
see God's work in everything can understand Him better.
What is you best advice to young, lonely, and frustrated people?
Loneliness can be both rewarding and punishing. A loner of God will
love God in loneliness. In the mundane world, one has to face
frustration. It depends on how much he understands the human affairs.
An understanding man will not be frustrated.

The Power of Prayer
Aum Sairam
By the power of prayer, man opens the door of the heart, in which God,
the ever-forgiving, the all-merciful, abides
There are three kinds of people among those who offer prayer.
1. One person in praying feels he is fulfilling a certain duty, which
he considers to be one among the other duties of life. ...
2. The second kind of person who offers prayers is the one who prays
because he has been taught to do so, and yet is uncertain as to whether
there is any God and whether his prayers are really heard....
3. The Third person who has imagination which is strengthened by faith.
He not only prays to God, but he prays before God, in the presence of
God. Once imagination has helped a man to bring the presence of God
before him, God is
awakened in his own heart.
God is love; and if God is love, then we, every one of us, can prove
God in us by expressing God in our life. According to the external
customs of the different religions, one goes to church, one to the
mosque, one to the synagogue, and another to the temple. The inner
temple however, is none of these, but in the heart of man, where God
abides and which is the habitation of Guru.
In prayer one reaches that spirit of God which is all-powerful and
which is ever-forgiving, and it is by the power of prayer that man
opens the doors of the heart, in which God the Merciful abides.

I Asked Sai
Aum Sairam
I asked SAI to do away with my Vices
SAI said "NO"
They are not there for me to take them away. They are there for you to
resist them.
I asked SAI to complete my body
SAI said "NO"
Your spirit is complete, your body is only temporary
I asked SAI to give me patience
SAI said "NO"
Patience is a by product of difficulties. It is not given but learned.
I asked SAI to give me Happiness
SAI said "NO"
I give blessings, Happiness depends upon you.
I asked SAI to free me from pain
SAI said "NO"
Suffering makes you go far away from this world and brings you nearer
to me.
I asked SAI to make my spirit grow
SAI said "NO"
You have to grow by yourself . But I will prune you to make you bear fruit.
I asked SAI for the things that would make me like life
SAI said "NO"
I will give you life, so you can enjoy all those things
I asked SAI to help me love others. Like He loves me.
SAI said "OH YOU FINALLY GOT THE IDEA"
"To the world you may mean just a person but to a person you may mean
the world"
"Do Not Judge to not be judged. Understand what is happening and you
will be blessed"
!! May SAI Bless You !!

Thursday's Message
Aum Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success
Happiness And Joy
The most admirable charters of Sri Sai Baba is Why do you fear, when I
am here! This itself is an answer to us for the success of our life. It
is universal phenomenon that a success cannot be achieved without
overcoming troubles. The art of facing trouble and converting them in
to success is easy to all Sri Sai devotees and methodology is clearly
explained in Shri Sai Satcharitra.
This world has numerous problems and freely distributed gift to us
according to our materialistic ambitions. If your ambitions are totally
controlled by maya then your struggle in the life is unending. The so
called modern needs of life, such as prestigious profession overflowing
pay and perks, luxurious shelter, beautiful wife, handsome husband,
genius children, reliable relations, confidential friends etc, Do you
think these are the things that will provide you real pleasures in your
life? Be honest in your judgement with practical current situations.
If you are very sincere in your judgement, the answer will be a big no.
Your neighbor in a rented house, earning meager salary in a private
commercial establishment, children studying in government school is
happier than you. Your countless problems on taxes, falling profits,
inability to meet business target, ever increasing household and
business expenditures, disturbed sleepless nights, misunderstanding
with wife, careless children is a partial list. Despite with all these
odds, if you are peaceful and happy that is because of your faith on
Sri Shirdi Sai Baba and leading life as per His teachings.
Sri Shirdi Sai Baba declared that he had come to give blessings to
people, temporal and spiritual wealth, and that He draws them under
various pretexts. In this world, material aims and objects cannot be
ignored and man cannot be blamed
if worldly prosperity is one of the main motives of their devotion to
God. This fact has been recognized not merely by Sri Shirdi Sai Baba,
but by Lord Krishna Himself.
Chaturvidha Bhajante Mam
Janah sucrutino Arjuna
Aartho Jijnasuh Artharthi
Jnani cha bharatarshabha.
This means, Four sorts of men are drawn to Me. They are all blessed.
a] the distressed,
b] those seeking knowledge,
c] those wanting worldly objects and
d] the man of perfect wisdom.
The distressed people are the largest number in the world and it is not
surprising that they were the earliest to approach Sri Sai Baba.
Persons are indifferent to God and Saints, so long as they are well
off. But once distress besets them, they feel helpless and seek the aid
of a Higher Power. When distress enters, all fancied obstacles of
inability to understand,
doubt and carping fly and leave the man with a ready receptive heart
and make him rush to the one who he believes and his distress makes him
believe to be gifted with power to redress.
Distress rouses hope and faith and these work wonder of turning a
skeptic into a believer. This has proved thousands of times and it is
true all times
Sri Shirdi Sai Baba's message on this Thursday to His distressed
devotees is cast off your anxiety, your sufferings have come to an end.
However, oppressed and troubled one may be, as soon as he steps in the
Masjid, he is on the pathway to happiness
Hence Sri Saibaba of Shirdi is our savior and protector, why fear, when
He is always with us.

May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success
Happiness And Joy
How much responsibility are you willing to take? The more
responsibility you assume, the more successful you'll become.
Some people look at a difficult situation and say that's not my
concern. Others look at the same situation and say I'll make it my
concern. I'll do something about it.
Guess who ends up being more successful?
There are plenty of perfectly reasonably and legitimate reasons to
avoid responsibility. So why would anyone choose to assume
responsibility? Because choosing to take responsibility means choosing
to achieve, choosing to succeed, choosing to make a truly positive difference.
You can get by fairly well without assuming much responsibility. But is
that really what you want just to get by? The next time you see people
running away from responsibility, make the choice to get yourself
running toward it. Make the
choice that will bring you success and achievement.
On this Thursday [Baba's Day] choose to take responsibility, and you'll
be choosing to succeed.

Nine Reasons Why One Should Worship Sai Baba of Shirdi
Aum Sairam
1] First and foremost because, in the words of Shri Hemadripant the
author of Shri Sai Satcharitra, Sri Sai Baba has taken a vow to give
you what you want.
2] And that too "instantly". You ask with sincere devotion- Faith
[Shradha)] and Patience [Saburi] and you will see the result.
3] He is so easily pleased. No hard penance, no unbearable fasts, not
even difficult concentration and control of senses. In his own
words, "You look to Me and I look to you". Can there be anything
simpler than this?
4] Though He had left His mortal body, even today thousands of devotees
are experiencing His presence. Their ardent prayers being answered
miraculously. These miracles speak for themselves.
5] No money is required to worship Sri Sai Baba. He is pleased even
with flowers, fruits, leaves or even water devotionaly offered. You
need not have to go all the way to Shirdi. He is available even from
where you are 'even beyond seven seas'.
6] Ashes [Udi] from the fire burning eternally in His Dwarkamai is the
cheapest and most infallible medicine of all diseases. The cost is
only two paisa- faith and patience.
7] His life-history written by Shri Hemadpant contains all the wisdom
of Vedas, Upanishadas and Geeta in the form of simple stories and
anecdotes. Reading them alone and following the advice therein, one can
reach the goal of liberation without fail.
8] Repetition of His name 'SAI' is so short, so sweet and so easy to
pronounce. No twisting of tongue and no difficult accents.
9] Last but not the least, He, on fulfilling your demands in this
world, ensures that you do not get caught in the dangerous network of this 'Sansar'.
Slowly He moulds you, guides you and takes you step by step to
liberation [Moksha] which is the key to eternal and everlasting bliss.

Baba's Mother-In-Law
Aum Sairam
Why did Sri Sai Baba sleep at Chawdi and Dwarakamai, and why is that
women are forbidden to enter the sacred room in Chawdi?
Laxmibai Shinde was the only woman permitted to enter Dwarkamai at
night. She was also the one whom Sri Sai Baba referred to as
His "mother-in-law" because she had surrendered her mind, [
her "daughter" ] fully to Him.
There was no differentiation, surrender was quite complete so she was
deemed worthy of the dakshina from Him of the nine coins, depicting the
nine forms of bhakti. Restrictions can apply only when there is that
wall of differentiation
between Him and us. As Sri Sai Baba says, Remove the wall of separation
between us, so that the path between us is cleared for our meeting. May
love for our Sri Sai Baba grow within us.

Trust Him
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba required no special place, nor any special time for giving
instructions. Whenever any occasion demanded, He gave them freely. Once
it so happened that a Bhakta of Sri Sai Baba, reviled another behind
his back, before other people. On leaving aside merits, he dwelt on the
faults of his brother and spoke so sarcastically, that the hearers were
disgusted. Generally, we see that people have a tendency to scandalize
others, un-necessarily, and this brings on hatred and ill will. Saints
see scandal, in another light. They say that there are various ways of
cleansing or removing dirt, viz. by means of earth, water and soap
etc., but a scandal monger has got a way of his own. He removes the
faults of others by his tongue; so in a way of obliges the person, whom
he reviles and for this he is to be thanked. Sri Sai Baba had his own
method of correcting the scandal monger. He knew by his omniscience
what the slanderer had done and when He met him at noon near the Lendi,
Sri Sai Baba pointed out to him a pig that was eating filth near the
fence and said to him "Behold how, with what relish it is gorging
dung. Your conduct is similar. You go on reviling your own brethren to
your heart's content. After performing many deeds of merit, you are
born a man, and if you act like this, will Shirdi help you in any way?"
Needless to say, that the Bhakta took the lesson to his heart, and went away.
Sri Sai Baba said that He was omnipresent, occupying land, air,
country, world, light and heaven, and that He was not limited. To
remove the misunderstanding of those, who thought that Sri Sai Baba was
only His body - three cubits and a half in length, He incarnated
Himself in this form and if any devotee meditated on Him day and night
with complete self surrender, he experienced complete union without any
difference with Him like sweetness and sugar, waves and sea, eye and
its luster. He, who wants to get rid of the cycle of births and deaths,
should lead a righteous life, with his mind calm and composed. He
should always engage himself in good actions, should do his duties and
surrender himself, heart and soul to Him. He need not then be afraid of
anything. He who trusts Him entirely, hears and expounds His Leelas and
does not think of anything else, is sure to attain Self realization.

country, world, light and heaven, and that He was not limited. To
remove the misunderstanding of those, who thought that Sri Sai Baba was
only His body - three cubits and a half in length, He incarnated

True Meaning In Reality
Aum Sairam
Unless we are stripped of all egoistic tendencies and desires, and
unless our soul attains its original naked state, we cannot embrace God
the Beloved Who is eternally naked in His infinity.
The Ego Becomes Very Thin And Weak
Just as the body feeds on food, so the mind feeds on desires, and
indulgence in these desires feeds the mind and the ego.
The Key To Unravelling The True Meaning
All things and forms, individually as well as collectively, derive
their existence as well as value from God.
He Remembers Who, In Reality, He Is
The greater his conquests the stronger is his confirmation of what his
mind tells him -- that there is no God other than his own power.
Complete Acceptance Of The Truth
Any thought, feeling or action which savors of the separative ego
springs from unqualified ignorance.
Unless I Help You, You Cannot Surrender
When the false ego is effaced, God manifests and plurality is merged in
Unity forever.
What Is Meant By The Annihilation Of The Ego?
It means to be fully conscious in sound sleep -- fully conscious in
the fully unconscious state.

Anna Daana
Aum Sairam
annam bahu kurvita- tadvratam[Ensure abundance of food all over; This is an inviolable discipline]
Be hospitable to any one who comes to you. Give water to the thirsty, bread to the hungry, clothing to the naked and shelter to the homelessand God will bless you.
[Greatness of Anna Daana]
When an Atithi [uninvited guest] comes to our door at noon, it is ourbounden duty to welcome him and give him food. Other kinds ofcharities, viz, giving away wealth, property and clothes etc., requiresome discrimination but in the matter of food, no such consideration isnecessary. All charities are imperfect without Anna Daana. Anna Daanais the best of all merits.
Lord Sri Krishna [In Mahabharata]:
"annadah pranado lokepranadah sarvado bhavettasmadannam visesenadatavyam bhutimicchata"
The giver of food is the giver of life, and indeed of everything else. Therefore, one who is desirous of well being in this world and beyond, should specially endeavour to give food.
"na kamcana vasatau pratyacaksita tasmadyaya kaya ca vidhaya bahvannamprapnuyat aradhyasma annamityacaksate"
Do not turn away anyone who comes seeking your hospitality. Therefore, obtain a great abundance of anna, exert all your efforts to ensure suchabundance; and welcome all seekers with the announcement that the foodis ready, partake of it.

Pride and Egoism
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba said, The pride and egoism of My devotees will vanish in
Shri Sai Satcharitra Ch.III.
In 1924, a marriage agreement was made between G.G Shirian, an ardent
devotee of Sri Sai Baba and his friend. It was purely a gentleman's
agreement. The gentleman's son should wed Shirian's daughter after
completing his education.
The boy completed his education. His market value went up. More and
more people began to offer their daughters to him, with Varadakshina.
Shri Shirian was poor by their standards, but he had faith in Sri Sai
Baba. He gave vent to his feelings before Sri Sai Baba's photo, who
appearing in his dream that night, assured him that He would give the
same boy in marriage to his daughter in two year's time.
In the mean time, the boy's parents were busy with negotiations and
proposals. But each of the proposals fell through for some reason or
the other. At the end of two years, the boy himself felt ashamed and
told his parents, that all these things were happening because they
broke the agreement. Realising their mistake, the friend repented and
the marriage
took place in two year's time as fixed by Sri Sai Baba.
In the year 1928 Shri G.G Shirian in his official work was blamed and
fined. He was hurt, as he felt that he was punished for no reason. That
night he prayed before Sri Sai Baba's photo fervently and asked Baba
what mistake he has committed to warrant the punishment. Sri Sai Baba
appearing in his dream told him not to worry, and that He would set
matters right. When he went to the office the next day, he found that
his superior had changed his opinion and had absolved him of the
charge, but in his place an innocent boy was made the scapegoat. The
boy was fined.
Now the boy and Shirian both prayed to Sri Sai Baba for Justice. Sri
Sai Baba again appeared to Shirian in his dream and said that the
boy's fine would be cancelled in 73 days. Trusting Baba, the boy did
not go in appeal, nor did he plead for mercy. Exactly on the 73rd day,
the boy's fine was cancelled by the officer who had earlier imposed
the fine. Baba is an embodiment of Truth. What He says does happen.

Scorpion Sting
Aum Sairam
Narayan Motiram Jani of Nasik was a devotee of Sri Sai Baba. He was
serving under another devotee of Sri Sai Baba, by name Ramachandra
Vaman Modak. Once he went to Shirdi with his mother and saw Baba. Then
Baba Himself told her that he [her son] should serve no more, but start
independent business. Some days after, this prophecy turned true.
Narayan Jani left service and started a boarding house, Anandashram
which thrived well. Once a friend of this Narayanrao was stung by a
scorpion and the pain caused by it, was severe and unbearable Sri Sai
Baba's Udi [sacred ash] is most efficacious in such cases; it is to be
applied on the seat of pain, and so Narayanrao searched for it, but
found none. Then he stood before Sri Sai Baba's picture and invoked Sri
Sai Baba's aid, chanted Sri Sai Baba's name and taking out a pinch of
the ashes of the joss-stick burning in front of Sri Sai Baba's picture
and thinking it to be Sri Sai Baba's Udi, applied it on the seat of
pain and the sting. As soon as he took out his fingers, the pain
vanished and both the person were moved and felt delighted.

Door Without A Handle
Aum Sairam
Baba said, "He who wants self-realization and immortal life, must
turn his gaze inwards, and look to his inner Self" in Sri Sai
Satcharitra, Ch. XVI.
There is a beautiful picture by the famous artist, Holman Hunt. In the
picture, Christ is seen standing in a garden holding a lantern in one
hand and with the other, knocking on a door.
A friend of the artist said to him, "Holman, you have made a mistake.
The door you have painted does not have a handle."
"It is not a mistake," answered the artist. "For that is the door
of the human heart and it can only be opened from the inside!"

Who Was The Old Man
Aum Sairam
Babu Rao Tukaram Kakade of Satara narrated his experience as Follows:
In 1946,he started for Shirdi with his wife and children to attend Guru
Poornima. Rains were pouring in at and near Shirdi. He took the evening
train at Poona and reached Kopergoan around 2.30 am,he knew none. Rains
were pouring. He was helpless. Suddenly an old man came to him and
asked him "What are you praying for?"Kakade answered, "I
wish to go to Shirdi". The old man took him and his family and engaged
a Tonga to go to Shirdi and suddenly disappeared when Kakade got into
the carriage. Kakade then turned to thank him but could find no trace
of him. When the Tonga reached Godavari, there was plenty of water in
the river. The Tonga driver did not wish to take the risk of crossing
the river with occupants in it. Some other person appeared there and
asked Kakade and wife to ford the river by walking. As for the two
children. The stranger carried them in his arms till the other bank was
reached. The Tonga stemmed the river freed from the human weight. Then
Kakade turned to thank him but the stranger had left the children on
the bank and disappeared."
Sri Sai Baba confirms from the above incident "If you cast your burden
on me, I shall surely bear it" Did not Baba Sai provide water to
Chandorkar on harischandra hills in the guise of a Bhill? What is
impossible for Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient Sri Sai?

Saved from Humiliation

Balaji Neweskar was a great devotee of Sri Sai Baba as was his son
after him. Once it happened that at Balaji's anniversary day, a certain
number of guests were invited and dinner was prepared for them. But at
the dinner-time it was found that thrice the number of people invited
turned up. Mrs. Newaskar was in a fix. She thought that the food would
not sufficient for the people assembled and that if it fell short, the
Honor of the family would be at stake. Her mother-in-law comforted her
by saying, Don't be afraid, it is not ours, but Sri Sai's food; cover
every vessel with cloth, putting some Udi in it, and serve from the
same without opening it : Sri Sai will save us from ignominy. She did
as she was advised and it was found to their surprise and joy that not
only did the food suffice for all, but plenty of it remained after
serving. As one feels intently, so he realises accordingly was proved

Try Something Different
Aum Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success
Happiness And Joy
There is a common phrase we have all heard knowledge is power. Today's
word challenges us to become actively involved in our ongoing
education. We cannot be truly powerful people through complacency. It
is becoming increasingly important for us as individuals and as a
society to put more focus on being aware.
When we willingly accept the norm without questioning we lose our sense
of identity; we lose power in this world to make a difference. Behind
every established norm is a great deal of history, tradition, and core
values. We are so often taught to not question tradition, to accept
other people's methods and values as our own without seeking the deeper meaning.
The act of questioning and seeking understanding is a beautiful process
it causes us to open up to more of our potential. We are inspired to
find innovative new methods from which to operate, and we find new and
higher standards to hold
ourselves up to. In this process of expansion new values can be adapted
ones more in line with current times.
It can be easy to settle in and allow our routines to take over our
lives. It is human to believe that things are fine as they are, and
that may be the case many times, but fine and ok don't fuel our passion
for living. We are inspired and drawn to create and achieve greatness -
and the key tothis standard of living is knowledge. Our individual
lives and our societies
always benefit from a persistent dedication to expansion through education.
Today's Exercise:
Try something new. Look at the world through the eyes of others, view
an alternative media outlet, or read a book or magazine something
different than what you would normally select. You can do this with
other aspects too, just do something different from your usual routine,
or make a conscious effort to learn how to do something new or in a new
way. Open yourself today on this Thursday [Baba's Day] up to a
different experience and reflect on the meaning of it and what you
learned at the end of the day.

Learn To How To Smile Again
Aum Sairam
Happy Baba's Day
Life is like a mirror. If things go right, you get a smile in return
but if something bad happens, you only get a frown or a tear.
If we learn to see the horizons we set ourselves and learn to see the
rise and fall of everything, then we would get the best results every time.
A smile is all we need to cheer ourselves up and if we get that one
smile, we can even say that a smile can be contagious.
To befriend a smile is great but to pass it on is even better. Learn
that everything only comes in a small or big package at a time and that
the most unexpected things are going to incounter but really, the
things that hit you emotionally and physically is called life.
If we learn this, then we can call ourselves people.
People with more than feelings. People who are able to look into a
mirror and get a smile in return.
Have a good day and Sri Sai bless you.

Daily Forgiveness
Aum Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success
Happiness And Joy
As long as you don't forgive, who and whatever it is will occupy rent
free space in your mind.
We cannot avoid daily resentment and thoughts of guilt. They are a part
of human nature. What we can do is release their grip on us. We can
forgive others and ourselves daily.
Forgiveness requires nothing in return. There are no conditions. It
gets rid of old baggage and clears up unfinished business. It leads us
to a life of authenticity, lightness and directness. Forgiveness is the
highest form of letting go of resentment and ego.
True forgiveness is more than an apology, understanding and acceptance.
There is an element of recreating and re-imagining. There is a need to
envision ourselves as more loving, interdependent, courageous and
compassionate. Forgiveness requires honouring the sacred journey of
learning about life our life and others.
Whatever we have done, we can always make amends for it without ever
looking back in guilt or sorrow.

Sadguru
Aum Sairam
Pleasures and pains are part of life. It is believed that they come and
go in cycles and are based on the laws of Karma. The only prolonged
happiness one can feel is in the presence of a Sadguru and as long as
the Sadguru's grace is with one. Can one fall from the grace of his
Sadguru? Absolutely, when one can not or will not conform to the
dictums of the Sadguru, what can Sadguru do? Sadguru loves all His
children equally, but when one is not listening or wants to traverse on
a different path, the Sadguru is forced to let the laws of nature work
on their own.
What is conformity to dictums of Sadguru? Does it mean we loose our
independence or become a slave to one? Far from it, the very dictums of
Sadguru are Universal that supports nature and enhancement of society
as a whole. Sadguru out of his infinite compassion and love of Nature,
provides insight to his devotees of the true nature of life itself and
its purpose so that one can enhance their knowledge and differentiate
between the real and unreal.
Sadguru's are like light houses guiding the ships to safety in the
darkness. Sadguru's roles are diverse from providing and taking care of
the needs of devotees in this life on earth to guiding the soul when it
continues its journey beyond. Without any care for themselves, their
entire time is spent in helping devotees in a variety of ways.
Sadguru's possess the capacity and capability of coping with any
situation that can be imagined by ordinary mortals. Their first and
foremost task is to serve their devotees.
How does the Sadguru serve his devotees even after discarding the
mortal body? That is a fair question asked by many. Since we can't
perceive anything beyond our five senses it is unthinkable and
unimaginable by us that some one out there can help us. It defeats our
logic and hence such thoughts are discouraged and discarded. Saints,
Peers and self-realized of all ages recognize that the soul is on its
journey even after discarding the mortal body.
The Sadguru's influence continues to wield as that Soul never dies. The
Sadguru is ever active and vigilant looking after the welfare of those
who are destined to come to Him whether willingly or not. Sadguru
provides ample proof of this by the ever-increasing number of
beneficiaries who throng to His shrine. Only a visit to Shirdi can
answer your questions and clear your doubts about our Sadguru Sri Sainath.

and the flight of your heavy footsteps in the material world that have
made you unable to hear His call within. Stop, be calm, pray
steadfastly, and out of the silence will loom the divine Presence.
Before going to bed, and upon awakening, mentally and deeply try to
broadcast your message: Oh Sai, receive me as Thy child, until your
mind microphone, broken by hammers of restlessness, is divinely
repaired and able to transmit your demand to Sai. As a broken
microphone cannot broadcast a message, so a restless mind cannot
transmit prayers to Sri Sai. Your prayers are not answered because you
have become a prodigal child, roaming in the land of material
limitations, and you pray as a beggar instead of demanding what is
yours as a child of Sri Sai, Owner of the universe.
Some persons might say, I know my prayers are answered, for I hear Sri
Sai talking to me. I have demonstrated His response to my prayers. The
thing is, are you sure that your prayers actually reached Sri Sai, and
that He consciously responded to them? What is the proof? Sri Sai
responds to law. Those who have experienced this response have said
that all people who conform to the law may test and experience it for
themselves. Physical laws have to be interpreted by the physical senses
and judged by the understanding. Divine laws have to be comprehended by
concentration, meditation, and awakened intuition.

Sai Namapathy - A Reliable Medicine
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba assured us ?If a man utters My name with love, I shall
fulfill all his wishes, increase his devotion? in Sri Sai Satcharitra, Ch.III.
Most of Sai devotees are very familiar with the book titled Ambrosia in
Shirdi published by Smt.Vinni Chitluri. She had narrated how her mother
was cured by Sri Sai Baba, through H.H Pujyasri B V Narasimha Swamiji.
In 1949 he along with his father and sick mother met H.H Pujyasri
Narasimha Swamiji at Sri Nagasai Mandir at Coimbatore, Swamiji
administered nama japa Achuta, Anantha, Govinda along with Baba's Udi
to cure her mother. After 21 days of repetition of divine name and
drinking Udhi with water, she got complete recovery. Later his father
went to Chennai to thank Swamiji for his divine help, Swamiji politely
said, I have done nothing, it is Baba's Udhi and grace,
that has worked. So thank Him and pray to Him. From this it is very
clear that our real doctor is only Lord Sainath. Lord Dhanvantari, the
physician of the three worlds [who expounded the ayurvedic medical
science], has himself declared: "By the medicine of the repetition of
the names, Achyuta, Ananta, Govinda, all diseases are cured - this is
my definite and honest declaration."
You can take this medicine or nama-japa [repetition of God's name]
yourself, for curing any disease. You can administer this marvellous
medicine to other patients also in your house or elsewhere. Sit by the
side of the patient and repeat, with sincere devotion and faith, the
name of the Lord, like Sai Ram, Hari Om, Sri Ram, Om Namahshivaya, and
sing His names also: "Aum Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai" Pray for His mercy
and grace. All maladies and agonies will come to an end.
Do the treatment of nama-japa for at least two hours in the morning and
evening. You will find the miraculous effect within a short time. When
allopathy, homeopathy, chromopathy, naturopathy, ayurvedapathy and all
other 'pathies' fail to cure a disease, the divine namapathy alone can
save you. Both the doctor and the patient should have perfect faith in
the Lord's name, his mercy and grace.
There is a mysterious power in the name. There is an inscrutable shakti
[power] in God's name! All the divine potencies are hidden in the
Lord's name. When you repeat the Lord's name you must evince
unflinching devotion from the bottom of your heart devotion to God,
without love for any other object. You must drive off all worldly
thoughts from your mind. Fill the mind with thoughts of God and God
alone. You must struggle. You must exert hard. Remain absorbed in him.
Constant repetition of the mantra with faith, devotion, purity and
one-pointed mind awakens the dynamic consciousness of the mantra,
latent in the mantra, and bestows perfection or psychic power inherent
in the mantra on the aspirant - illumination, freedom, peace, eternal
bliss and immortality. The repetition of the mantra again and again
generates a great spiritual force and momentum and intensifies the
spiritual samskaras or impressions.
More importantly the divine nama japa will eradicate the disease of
birth and death and bestow on you moksha, liberation or immortality.
Let us continue our Sai Nama Japa Mantra without an end.

Subconscious Awareness
Aum Sairam
When you think, you are constantly making impressions on your
subconscious mind. The heavier the impression, the more likely it will
become your reality.
The reason for this is that the subconscious mind doesnt know whether
these impressions are real, or if they are not. So it adjusts your
outer reality to match the impressions that are most dominantly being
imprinted onto your mind.
This process is called the imprinting process. You must watch what you
are printing onto your subconscious all day long. You must be vigilant
at all costs. Thoughts are things and will come to life if left unattended.
Ask yourself, do I want this thought to be my reality? If you don't,
simply become aware of the thought. Your awareness will stop the
thought from being imprinted onto the subconscious.

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
Aum Sairam
You are very fortunate and highly blessed, because, If you woke up this
morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the
million who will not survive this week. If you have never experienced
the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of
torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million
people in the world.
If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof
overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75 percent of this
world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare changes
in a dish someplace, you are the top 8% of the world's wealthy. If
your parents are still alive, you are very rare. If you hold up your
head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed
because the majority can, but most do not. If you prayed yesterday and
today, you are the minority because you believe in God does hear and
answer prayers. If you can read, you are more blessed than over two
billion people in the world that cannot read at all.
You, being Sri Sai Baba's child, you are blessed FEW among the whole
global population as our Divine Mother Baba
said, "Those, who are fortunate and whose demerits have vanished,
take to My worship" in Ch.XIII and "It is on account of Rinanubandh
[former relationship] that we have come together" in Ch.XVIII and XIX
of Shri Sai Satcharitra.
Now count your blessings, is there any comparison available in this Universe?

Big God, Big Ideas
Aum Sairam
Two men went fishing. One was an experienced fisherman the other
wasn't. Every time the experienced fisherman caught a big fish he put
it in his ice chest to keep it fresh. Whenever the inexperienced
fisherman caught a big fish he threw it back. The experienced fisherman
watched this go on all day and finally got tired of seeing the man
waste good fish. "Why do you keep throwing back all the big fish you
catch?" he asked.
The inexperienced fisherman replied, "I only have a small frying pan."
Sometimes, like that fisherman, we throwback the big plans, big dreams,
big jobs, big opportunities that God gives us. Our faith is too small.
We laugh at that fisherman who didn't figure out that all he needed was
a bigger frying pan, yet how ready are we to increase the size of our faith?
Whether it's a problem or a possibility, God will never give you
anything bigger than you can handle. That means we can confidently walk
into anything God brings our way.
REMEMBER: Don't Tell God you've got big problems. Tell your problems
you've got a BIG GOD!

Actions Of Baba Seems Impossible
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba's Strange Actions
In the early days when the holy fire [Dhuni] was started in Dwarakamai,
Sri Sai Baba collected used matchsticks and stored them carefully. He
took dakshina half-anna [equivalent to three paise] from the devotees
who visited him. He smoked from a mud pipe called chillum.
With thin and weak cloth pieces measuring five feet in length and one
and half feet in width, Baba used to hang a wooden board four inches
thick, to the rafters of Dwarkamai. He put four lamps at the four
corners of the wooden board, and slept on the board. While it was
surprising as to how the cloth pieces withstood the weight of the
wooden board, it was more surprising as to how they withstood the
weight of Sri Sai Baba also.
In the afternoons, between 1 and 2 p.m. devotees were not allowed
inside the mosque. During this period Baba would take out 15 to 20 old
coins from his bag and rub them with his fingers, saying aloud, "This
coin is Nana's, this coin is Kaka's." Perhaps by doing like this
Sri Sai Baba was removing their desires.
Everyday, after watering the plants in Lendi Baugh, Sri Sai Baba would
put the earthen pots with their mouths down. Once a person named
Kolambi, observing this crazy action of Sri Sai Baba, asked him why he
was doing like that. To this Sri Sai Baba replied that people who were
coming to him were like the earthen pots with their mouths down,
meaning they were not able to receive carefully what Sri Sai Baba
wanted to give them.
Sri Sai Baba's Knowledge of Past, Present and Future [Ruthambara Prajna]
Sri Sai Baba used to tell his devotees frequently:
"Whether you are before me or at far off place, whatever you do and
think will be known to me." He used to tell the devotees who visited
him, their past, present and future. This is called Ruthambara Prajna
in Yoga Shastra. This is found in saints in a limited capacity. But Sri
Sai Baba's power was limitless, covering the entire world and beyond imagination.
One day the flames in the Dhuni in the mosque, went high up all of a
sudden touching the wooden rafters. The Sri Sai Baba, striking the
floor with his satka ordered the flames to come down. On one summer day
the haystack of a farmer caught fire, and was burning, assisted by the
blowing wind. There was no sufficient water in the village to put out
the fire. All feared that the flames would spread to the neighboring
haystacks and to the nearby houses. Some ran to Sri Sai Baba and begged
him to save them from the calamity. Immediately, Sri Sai Baba went to
the raging fire and with a small vessel containing water sprinkled it
around the haystack and ordered the fire not to go beyond that
boundary. The fire subsided after sometime without spreading. In the
first year of the celebration of Ramanavami in Shirdi, there was acute
water shortage. To tide over this shortage, Sri Sai Baba threw flowers
into the dried up village well. Immediately water oozed and filled the
well. This is another instance to prove Sri Sai Baba's control over
the elements. Megashyam, a native of Vivergaon, was the Brahmin cook of
Sathe. He was a very orthodox person. In the early days of Sathe's
visit to Shirdi, Megashyam was given the work of a pujari and also to
serve Sri Sai Baba. Over a period, Megashyam saw several of Sri Sai
Baba's Leela's and fully believed that Sri Sai Baba was the
incarnation of Lord Shiva. He used to daily drink the water with which
Sri Sai Baba's feet were washed. Sri Sai Baba brought about a change
in him and made his devotion permanent.
On one Sankaranti, Meghashyam wanted to apply sandal paste all over Sri
Sai Baba's body and bathe the body with Ganga water [water from
nearby Godavari river] He sought permission of Sri Sai Baba who
reluctantly gave it. He walked to and fro18 miles and brought the water
in a pot on his head. It was noon time. He made Sri Sai Baba sit on a
low wooden stool. Sri Sai Baba put his head a little forward and told
Megashyam that since the head was important part of the body, it was
enough if the water was put on his head only instead of on the entire
body. But Megashyam crying out ecstatically "Har Ganga" emptied the
water from the pot on the entire body . But to his surprise, Sri Sai
Baba's advise, only Sri Sai Baba's head got wet as Sri Sai Baba desired.
From the above two Leela's, it is evident that Sri Sai Baba had
complete control over water also.
Brahma Jnana
A very rich man Gulzar was residing near Malegaon. On hearing about the
powers and Leela's of Sai Baba, he decided to go to Shirdi to get
Brahma Jnana from Sri Sai Baba. He engaged a Tonga for the journey.
After reaching Shirdi, he approached Sri Sai Baba, and asked him to
teach him Brahma Jnana without delay, as he had engaged a Tonga for the
journey. Sri Sai Baba told him, "Friend, do not get worried. I will
show you Brahman just now. All my transactions are for cash only and no
account. All who come to me are with selfish desires. Very few ask for
Brahma Jnana like you." So saying, Sri Sai Baba diverted the topic. He
called for a boy and asked him to get five rupees as loan from Nandu
Mar wari The boy returned after sometime stating that the house was
locked. Sri Sai Baba sent him to some other house, with the same
result. He sent him to two more places, but without success. Then Sri
Sai Baba looked at Gulzar who had come for Brahma Jnana and
said, "There are fifty currency notes of five rupees denomination in
your pocket. Attaining Brahma Jnana urgently is not materialistic. I
have been sending the boy to get a loan of five rupees, with the
intention that you should observe. You did not volunteer to give that
five rupees to me, that too as a loan, even though you have a lot of
money. Such a miser cannot understand Brahma Jnana. You were in a hurry
because, if there was delay the Tonga walla would charge you more." Sri
Sai Baba then added, Oh friend!
Brahma Jnana means realization of Self [Atma]. There is no difference
between Atma and God. If you want to realize Atma in your body,
then you have to surrender to God the following five things:
[1] five pranas
[2] five senses
[3] mind
[4] intellect and
[5] ego.
All these are inside a person. It is easy to surrender the eternal things.
But to surrender those which are inside a person is very difficult.
It is like walking on the edge of a sharp knife.
Those who cannot surrender even the external things are deemed
to be fully under delusion.
Such persons cannot understand the five inside matters.
A person who wants Self-realization or Atma Jnana, should be careful in the
following matters:
1. A strong desire should be there for moksha or freedom from worldly matters.
2. One should have detachment from all things of this world and also
desires about the other world [paraloka].
3. All the senses of a man are accustomed to seeing external things only.
One should make these senses see the self or Atma.
4. When he cannot divert his mind from bad and undesirable things and
not be able to control his mind, he cannot get Atma-Sakshatkara even if
he gets Jnana.
5. One should always speak the truth under all circumstances and remain
a bachelor.
6. Man should choose only that which will do him good and not that
which gives him pleasure. Worldly matters give pleasure. Spiritual
matters do him good. Instead of going for temporary or momentary
pleasures, one should prefer spiritual matters only, which do good to him.
7. Man should have under control, the mind and sensory organs. If he
goes for pleasures, the senses also will keep the mind occupied with
these matters and there will not be any room for spiritual matters.
8. He must keep his mind pure. He should do his duties in a proper and
satisfactory way, without expecting reward for his actions. Then the
mind will be pure. Knowledge comes out from a purified mind and
increases detachment, leading to self-realization. Unless greed,
delusions and desires are removed, man cannot get Jnana.
9. If all the above-mentioned thing are practiced rigorously he will
achieve results. After this stage, the need for a 'Guru' arises. A
Guru should be one who has attained Atma-Jnana, otherwise no useful
purpose will be served.
10. The first eight are one's own efforts. To this, if the help of a
Sadguru is also there, then God's blessings will also be there.
Knowledge of the Vedas, or riches or great intelligence will not get us Atma-Jnana."
The above lengthy speech of Sri Sai Baba was not only directed to
Gulzar but to all 6 other Sai devotees and readers of this life
history. May the readers do parayana of the portion of this chapter
dealing with Brahma Jnana. Those who read this with devotion will have
Sri Sai Baba as their Sadguru permanently. Let their lives journey be
towards Atma Sakshatkara.
What are the needs of a man?
Happiness, peace, food and clothing and
bodily requirements. Sri Sai Baba has said, "In my devotees house,
nothing will be wanting." So we should not waste our life for the sake
of food and clothing, name and fame. Attachments to mother, father,
brother, wife, husband, etc. are limited to this birth only, but the
attachment to Sai will be there for several births [janmas] to come.
Let us wish that through the parayana of this sacred Life History of
Sri Sai Baba, Sri Sai Baba will be a part of our family and our lives
shall be tied up with

Thursday [Baba's Day]
Aum Sairam
May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success
Happiness And Joy
Being ignorant since many births, Oh Sai, I haven't known God!
By the flash of your mercy, I see the God for the first time!
What is the most important thing one could get from Sadguru Sri
Sainath? He Himself said that although He is willing to give from His
open coffers, most are not inclined to seek it. After every desire is
answered and the truce between needs and wants established, Sadguru
begins His work on the chosen ones. The most competent Sri Sainath has
innumerable ways that he chooses according to the nature of the devotee.
God vision, the realization of the supreme, the purpose to any quest,
realization of the self, knowledge of the absolute, these are some of
the descriptors of the dormant quest one might have in the spiritual
path. The satsang with Sadguru is never passive! It is not a choice!
Is Sri Sai Baba a mere Guru or God himself? This is a stale question as
any reader of books on Sri Sai Baba can say that Sri Sai Baba appears
to those in whatever form they chose. Stories abound where Sri Sai Baba
appeared as Vitthal, Shiva, Dattatreya, Jesus and other forms of
divinity. In spite of this, is there a question whether Sri Sai Baba is
just a siddha purusha, someone who acquired supernatural powers due to
sadhana or He the absolute beyond all siddhis? Is He the God?
What is God? What are God's attributes? None is able to describe this.
Hence, even the question whether Sri Sai Baba is God or not, is not
completely legitimate and at the best can only be a relative rhetoric!
To make this simple, if one would
choose any form of God within one's confine, describe the attributes of
such a form, Rama, Shiva, Jesus, Krishna, Vishnu, Allah or Buddha, all
those attributes can be found in the perfect master of Shirdi. If God
is defined as an object of faith, the faith will reveal God's form.

Be Thankful
Aum Sairam
Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something
Cos' it gives you the opportunity to learn
Be thankful for difficult times
Cos' it is those times you grow
Be thankful for your limitations
Cos' they give you opportunities to improve
Be thankful for every new challenge
Cos' it builds your strength and character
Be thankful for the mistakes you make,
It's only then you learn valuable lessons
Be thankful when you're tired and weary
Cos' it means you've made a difference
It's easy to be thankful for the good things
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
are thankful for setbacks
Gratitude can turn a negative to a positive
So find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
Cos, they can, and will become your blessings.

To Whom Shall I Turn, If Not To Thee
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba said the whole story in few words, "Unless you have
given it before, you do not get it now" Sri Sai Satcharitra Ch.XXXV.
How profoundly moving is the story of Draupadi's plight in the court
of Duryodhana!
Pulled by her hair by Dushasan who was eager to strip her naked,
Draupadi turned to the five Pandava brothers who hung their heads in
shame. They felt utterly helpless for they were now the slaves of
Duryodhana. They could do nothing. Even Bhima who was second to neon in
strength, now felt powerless to help her.
Then Draupadi turned to the Lord Shri Krishna, "But for thee, who is
there who will come to my rescue at this time of dire need?" she
cried out in anguish.
It is said, Shri Krishna appeared to her and said, "Draupadi, tell
me! Tell me if at any point of time you have given a single piece of
cloth to someone in need. If you have done so, then through that tiny
piece of cloth, i shall be able to save you, but I must have a starting
point somewhere!"
As a queen, countless must have been the instances when draupadi had
given away gifts of all kinds, including bales and bales of cloth. But
at this crucial moment, all she could recall was a simple and
spontaneous act of generosity. One day, she remembered, she was
standing on the river bank as a sanyasin was taking his bath. Suddenly,
a powerful current of water swept away the single loin cloth in which
the sanyasin was clad leaving him naked.
She saw and understood the plight of the sanyasin. Without a moment's
hesitation, she tore a piece out of her own Saree and threw it to the
sanyasin so that he could cover himself with it and come out of the waters.
This was all that Shri Krishna needed to save the honor of Draupadi.
Out of that piece of cloth, He drew out bales after bales of material,
till Dushasan fell to the ground, exhausted and defeated.

A Million Moments
Aum Sairam
The secret to life is living it ... one day at a time
Our lives are made up of a million moments, spent in a million
different ways. Some are spent searching for love, peace and harmony.
Others are spent surviving day to day. But there is no greater moment
than when we find that life, with all its joys and sorrows, is meant to
be lived one day at a time.
It's in this knowledge that we discover the most wonderful truth of
all. Whether we live in a forty-room mansion, surrounded by servants
and wealth, or find it a struggle to manage the rent month to month, we
have it within our power to be fully satisfied and live a life with
true meaning.
One day at a time ... we have that ability, through cherishing each
moment and rejoicing in each dream. We can experience each day anew,
and with this fresh start we have what it takes to make all of our
dreams come true. Each day is new, and living one day at a time enables
us to truly enjoy life and live it to the fullest.

If You Plant
Aum Sairam
If you plant honesty, You will reap trust
If you plant goodness, You will reap friends
If you plant humility, You will reap greatness
If you plant perseverance, You will reap victory
If you plant consideration, You will reap harmony
If you plant hard work, You will reap success
If you plant forgiveness, You will reap reconciliation
If you plant openness, You will reap intimacy
If you plant patience, You will reap improvements
If you plant faith, You will reap miracles
But
If you plant dishonesty, You will reap distrust.
If you plant selfishness, You will reap loneliness
If you plant pride, You will reap destruction
If you plant envy, You will reap trouble
If you plant laziness, You will reap stagnation.
If you plant bitterness, You will reap isolation
If you plant greed, You will reap loss
If you plant gossip, You will reap enemies
If you plant worries, You will reap wrinkles
If you plant sin, You will reap guilt
So be careful what you plant now, It will determine what you will reap
tomorrow. The seeds you now scatter, Will make life worse or better
your life or the ones who will come after. Yes, someday, you will enjoy
the fruits, Or you will pay for the choices you plant today.

Feelings
The role of the feelings is important in the small affairs of life and
in the major ones. People invest more time and energy in subjects that
they love and where their feelings and emotions are involved. Did you
notice that when you do something you love you feel less tired and may
even be unaware of the passing time, while if you do something that you
do not like doing, you feel that time is passing slowly and you get
bored and tired easily and quickly?
You have to exercise control over your feelings and emotions, and learn
to evoke them in the right quantity, when you need them to push and
motivate you, or when you visualize or affirm.
How do you evoke feelings and strengthen them?
1. By thinking about the benefits you would get if you perform a
certain action, visualize or affirm.
2. By daydreaming about the end-result.
3. By awakening the feelings you had experienced about something you
really wanted, desired, and attained in the past, and trying to
transfer these feelings to the task on hand.
Feelings and emotions are important factors when using affirmations and
creative visualization. They energize and put power into the
affirmations or visualizations. There is a very great difference
between desiring something mildly, without emotion, and desiring it strongly.
You can repeat an affirmation in an absent-minded fashion and visualize
something with lack of interest, or you can put a lot of feelings in
them. In the first case you do not generate any current, while in the
second case you invest, awaken and create a great current of energy.
Remember, there are two elements in any action, the mental and
emotional. They both have to be present in order to make things happen.

Path Of Self Realization
Aum Sairam
Sri Sai Baba's physical or finite form has no doubt disappeared from
our view; but the infinite or spiritual form [Spirit of Baba] ever
lives. The Leelas which occurred during His lifetime have been dwelt
upon at great length up till now. Ever since His passing away, fresh
Leela's have taken place and are even now happening. This clearly shows
that Baba is ever-living and helping His devotees as before. The people
who got the contact of Sri Sai Baba when He was living, were indeed
very fortunate, but if any of them did not get a dispassion for the
things and enjoyments of the world and had not their minds turned to
the Lord, it was sheerly their ill-luck. What was then wanted and is
now wanted is the whole hearted devotion to Sri Sai Baba. All our
senses, organs, and mind should co-operate in worshipping and serving
Baba. It is no use in engaging some organs in the worship and
deflecting others. If a thing like worhsip or meditation is to be done,
it ought to be done with all our mind and soul.
The love that a chaste woman bears to her husband is sometimes compared
to that which a disciple bears to his master [Guru]. Yet the former
falls far short of the latter, which is incomparable. No one, whether
he be father, mother, brother or any other relation, comes to our aid
in attaining the goal of life [self-realization]. We have to chalk out
and traverse the path of self-realization ourselves. We have to
discriminate between the Unreal and the Real, renounce the things and
enjoyments of this world and the next, control our senses and mind, and
aspire for liberation only. Instead of depending upon others, we should
have full faith in ourselves. When we begin to practice discrimination,
we come to know, that the world is transient and unreal and our passion
for worldly things becomes less and less, and ultimately we get
dispassion or non-attachment for them. Then we know that the Brahma
which is no other than our Guru is the sole reality and as It
transcends and besets the seeming universe, we begin to worship It in
all creatures. This is the unitive Bhajan or worship. When we thus
worship the Brahma or Guru whole-heartedly, we become one with Him and
attain self-realization. In short, always chanting the name of the
Guru, and meditating on Him enables us to see Him in all beings, and
confers eternal bliss on us.
