Inner Peace#2

Aum Sairam

Many of us feel a sense of inner peace when we're out in nature. We
feel a sense of timelessness. We become aware of our own almost
insignificance in relation to it. We can't change it; we can't control
it. But the thought is somehow reassuring. We feel content to be a part
of something so awe-inspiring and unarguably "there".

There's a sense of balance and harmony in nature. Seasons come and go
with regularity. There are cycles of life, giving and receiving in a
beautiful harmonious whole. Even cataclysmic events-storms,
earthquakes, floods-are part of a larger harmony, a natural cycle of
growth and change. Nature is always becoming. The beauty of nature
constantly unfolds in accordance with its laws.

Nature teaches us more about inner peace. It reminds us that there are
laws and that they are in control. With that reminder is a sense of
comfort that there is order in the universe. We might as well attempt
to reorder the seasons or annul the effects of gravity as to
change the consequences of violating natural law in the human
dimension. We simply cannot be a law unto ourselves without
consequence. Inner peace and quality of life come only as we discover
and align with the fundamental Laws of Life.

The inner peace we are talking about is obviously more than the absence
of war. It is not a retreat into the wilderness to avoid the
complexities and conundrums of daily living. The inner peace we are
talking about is a function of our deep inner life. It's joyful living.
It's found in the midst of life, not in retreat from it.

To the many devotees who sought real treasures, the ocean of love and
mercy, Lord Sainath warned his devotees of roadblocks viz. ego, pride,
anger, greed, jealousy, etc. in attaining this inner peace and gave his
words of wisdom and the two fundamental principles in attaining inner
peace viz. Faith and Patience.

To Abdul, Sri Sai Baba said, "Vices [actions that produce bad habits]
can overpower a man. Do not be under their control, triumph over them.
If one truly discriminates, good qualities will arise in one and keep
company until the end of one's life and will serve one well bringing
inner peace".

Take a moment and think about your own life. What does "inner peace"
mean to you? Where does it come from? Are you satisfied with the amount
and quality of inner peace in your life?

Point to Ponder

Aum Sairam

How true is our love towards Sri Sai Baba? Do we mean it with our heart
and soul when we say I love you Sai? If we love Him then would we be
lamenting about the hardships that we face everyday? Is it not our duty
to share Masters Responsibilities on our shoulders too? Shri Sai
Satcharitra mentions that - Guru takes disciple to be Vasudev and
Krishna treats both as his Prana and Atma. Sri Sai Baba has
demonstrated the fact that master also serves the disciple and disciple
serves Master, by serving Mrs. Khaparde as she was serving Him in
chapter 27 as well.

Ever wonder that Sri Sai is as dependent us as we are on Him? He needs
us to be with Him to carry the burdens of the other people on our
shoulders so that we can share the suffering hence reduce what others
suffer. We have after all pledged our love, life and service to God.
What use is our pledge when we lament at the slightest discomfort in
our life. Let us carry the troubles thanking God that He needed us to
HELP HIM as HE LOVES US and is looking for our Company as we are
looking for HIS.

Sri Sai Baba give us the ability to carry the burden and understand
your love towards us.

Baba's Power

Aum Sairam

Purity is the Light of our soul expressing its divinity through the
body, the vital and the mind. When we are pure, we gain everything. If
we can retain our purity, we will never lose anything worth keeping.
Today we may have great thoughts or great inner power, but tomorrow we
are bound to lose them if we are not pure. Purity is the breath of the
Supreme. When purity leaves us, the breath of the Supreme also leaves,
and we are left with only our human breath.

Purity is like a divine magnet. It pulls all divine qualities into us.
If we have purity, then we have everything. There are two ways to have
purity. One is by seeing Sri Sai Baba inside everyone, consciously and
constantly. The other is by imagining Sri Sai Baba and consciously
repeating His name as many times as possible. If we have purity, we do
not have to go to Sri Sai Baba. Sri Sai Baba Himself will make us see
His infinite Divinity. What Sri Sai Baba is will be reflected in us.

Purity expedites Sri Sai Baba's hour. Purity embodies Sri Sai Baba's
power. Purity is the harbinger of selfless oneness, eternity's perfect,
selfless oneness with God.

Did You Find Joy

Aum Sairam

The future, higher evolution will belong to those who live in joy, who
share joy, and who spread joy.

Joy, as the energy of love, is the highest vibration on this planet.
Everything in the universe is energy; it can be measured and reduced to
vibration frequencies. It's a universal law that as we think and feel
we vibrate, and as we vibrate we attract. When we are in the high joy
vibration we attract what is for our greater good.

The Ancient Egyptians saw Joy as a sacred responsibility. They believed
that upon their death, the God Osiris would ask them two
questions: "Did you bring Joy?" and "Did you find Joy?" Those who
answered `yes' could continue their journey into the afterlife.

For at least the next week or two, ask yourself these two questions
each and every day: Did I bring joy? Did I find joy? Man loves because
he is Love. He seeks Joy, for he is Joy. He thirsts for God for he is
composed of God and he cannot exist without Him.

Measuring Devotion

Aum Sairam,

We are in the fast moving materialistic world where success is measured
in terms of bank balance or the material acquisition we have made in
short span of life or the influence we in have on the politicians or
name and fame in the society. Only when we know we have achieved these
milestones we know 'We Are Somebody'. Now when we measure everything,
don't you reckon it is but fair to measure our devotion towards God
as well? Well then how do we go about measuring our devotion? No, there
is no device used to measure devotion nor there is a thermometer
available to measure our love towards God. Then how do we measure it?
Why does one think of God? The big question. When we are in trouble we
seek blessings of God to help us get out of the sticky situation and
bless us with what we desire. Well once that is granted we then keep
asking for some other thing. Now the question is - God is the giver no
doubt but nothing is for free in this world or the world beyond, there
is something we have to give back, there comes a point when our prayers
are not answered or we feel the world has come to stagnation. Why is
this so? The point is it is time now for us to reflect and see if our
devotion towards God has progressed on not. The yardsticks used for
this measure of devotion are

1. How many times I think of God in a day?
2. Do I think of him always or only when I need something from him?
3. Do I thank God for what he has done?
4. Do I think of God without asking him anything for self?
5. Do I have this desire to read his books?
6. Do I engage in frequent conversations and talk only about HIM?
7. Have I changed my prayers from giving me materialistic wealth to knowledge?
8. Do I give charity thinking of God and that he may be in the form of beggar?
9. Do I long to be in HIS Company always?
10. Am I being righteous always?
11. Do I evaluate my talk and thoughts always to see if they are
appropriate as prescribed by God?
12. Do I harm people knowing or unknowingly?
13. Am I being humble always?
14. Do I make every effort to curb my ego?
15. Do I fantasize being in the presence of God?
16. Do I feel pain for others when they are in trouble?

If we keep asking us these questions regularly I am sure a stage will
come when we have fulfilled all our questions and God himself will
confirm our faith. There are different ways to measure the progress of
our devotion but the sincerity in pleasing God and obeying his word is
important. So now let us ask this question to ourselves today - HAVE I
AGAIN ASKED for MATERIALISTIC FULFILLMENT TODAY, OR ASKED FOR HIS COMPANY?

Speak To God

Aum Sairam

It is in this eternal silence and the Oneness that the deepest levels
of truth are known. God exists at the very heart of silence within.
Once you know God within, you will begin to feel and experience and
know God in everything around you. This knowing is at the very heart of
the mystical life.

Once you are firmly established in the silence, then you can
communicate directly with God. Speak from silence into silence. Allow
the response to arise out of silence.

God's response will not always be in the form of words. It might come
as a feeling of perfect peace or love. You might simply be filled from
within with the silent Presence of God.

If it is a response in words, make sure that the words are not coming
from some part of your thinking mind, which is essentially your ego.
The only way to be sure is to be deeply grounded in silence. You must
surrender all expectation or attachment to hearing the voice for that
would be coming from your ego. Simply learn the art of being fully
present. Be innocent. Be full and open and generous in your heart.
Speak to God honestly and authentically.

The Road Of Life

Aum Sairam

At first, I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the
things I did wrong; so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when
I die. He was there sort of like a picture of a president. I recognized
His picture when I saw it, but I really didn't know Him.

Later on when I met Sri Sai, it seemed as though life was like a bike
ride, on a tandem bike, and I noticed that Sri Sai was in the back
helping me pedal. I don't recall when he suggested we change places,
but life has not been the same since.

When I had control, it was rather boring, and predictable . . . It was
the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He
knew the exciting paths to take, up mountains, and through rocky places
at breakneck speeds -- it was all I could do to just hang on! At times
it seemed like madness. He said: "Pedal!"

And by faith I did, although I worried and was anxious. "Where are you
taking me?" He laughed, but no answer, and I started to learn to trust.
I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure.

When I'd say, "I'm scared," He'd lean back and touch my hand. He took
me to people that had gifts that I needed. Gifts of healing,
acceptance, love, and joy. So many priceless gifts to take on my
journey -- my Lord's and mine. Then we were off again. He said, "Give
the gifts away -- they're extra baggage now -- there'll be more gifts
to come." So I did, I gave them to people we met, and found that in
giving I also received, and my burden was lighter.

I didn't trust him at first to be in control of my life. I thought He'd
wreck it -- but I discovered he knows how to handle even the roughest
roads in my life. Now I'm learning to be quiet and pedal in the
strangest places. I'm beginning to enjoy the view, the challenge of the
ride, as well as the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant
companion -- Sri Sai.

When it seems I just can't take anymore, I keep my eyes and faith on
Him. He looks at me, with a big smile, and says: ". . . Keep on Pedaling."

"Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am Your
Father. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with
my victorious hand."

Love And Time

Aum Sairam

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived:
Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love.
One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so
all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the
last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can
you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot
of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful
vessel. "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you, Love. You are all
wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with
you." "Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not
even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder.

So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they
were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way.
Realizing how much was owed the elder,

Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time,"
Knowledge answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is
capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

Heal The Past

Aum Sairam

What you bring forth out of yourself from the inside will save you.
What you do not bring forth out of yourself from the inside will
destroy you.

We can transform painful memories by re-imagining them from the soul's
perspective of love and meaning.

All experiences have the purpose of serving the soul. An experience in
the past blocked us because our fear at the time distorted our
perception of what happened. To transform this limiting experience, we
must bring what was then unconscious into the soul's realm through consciousness.

We can do this by following these steps:

1. RECALL the past experience that might inhibit us.

2. OWN the experience [no judgment, blame, etc.]

3. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for it and the consequences [i.e., the
experience was determined by my subjective perception of what occurred,
dictated by my lack of wholeness -- specifically my fears].

4. GIVE IT MEANING [the soul was attempting to gain some kind of
mastery or skill, but we didn't know that at the time].

5. RE-IMAGINE it from the perspective of soul consciousness [showing
its higher purpose].

Letting go of our suffering is the hardest work we will ever do. It is
also the most fruitful. To heal means to meet ourselves in a new way --
in the newness of each moment where all is possible and nothing is
limited to the old.

A Tribute To Those Mothers

Aum Sairam

Women have held extraordinary roles in all religious and spiritual
traditions. The sacrifice and burden that mothers bear is the
cornerstone of humanity. With this in mind, I am honored to have the
opportunity to call to memory, four extraordinary women who loved Sri
Sai Baba of Shirdi very deeply. With folded hands, my mind offers
fragrant flowers of love and gratitude to Bayajabai, Lakshmibai, Hazrat
Babajan, and Godavari Maa.

Bayajabai is the mother of Tatya Kote, a close devotee of Sri Sai Baba.
During Sri Sai Baba's youth, he went into deep states of meditative
Samadhi. He would seat himself somewhere in the surrounding area of
Shirdi. Bayajabai loved Sri Sai Baba deeply and would roam about in
search of Him, in order to bring Him nourishment. At times, due to His
deep Samadhi states; in fear of His health, she would cradle Him, and
hand feed Him like a baby. With folded hands, I offer her fragrant
flowers of love and gratitude.

Lakshmibai was a close personal attendant of Sri Sai Baba, who was one
of the few devotees, allowed to perform seva in the masjid during the
evening. Before Sri Sai Baba's passing, He handed her nine rupees.
These rupees are said to represent the nine forms of bhakti [love and
devotion] she attained through serving Him. With folded hands, I offer
her fragrant flowers of love and gratitude.

Hazrat Babajan of Pune was a fully enlightened spiritual Master who
lived during Sri Sai Baba's time. She and Sri Sai Baba loved each other
deeply. She referred to Sri Sai Baba as her brother and acknowledged
Him as the one with the key. Her motherly kiss on the forehead of Meher
Baba, catapulted him into a state of God-intoxicated madness for nine
months. With folded hands, I offer her fragrant flowers of love and gratitude.

Godavari Maa was the heir to Upasani's ashram in Sakori. Although she
was just a young woman when brought to serve Shri Upasani Maharaj, she
became a cornerstone of grace and love for all devotees of Sri Sai Baba
of Shirdi. With folded hands, I offer her fragrant flowers of love and
gratitude to Sri Mahadevi, residing in all women, and in all creation.

Masters Blessings

Aum Sairam

The path of spirituality is not a highway that one may tread easily. It
is an arduous and an uphill task, tortuous and difficult. In such a
weird setting, all baffling and bewildering, with no way out, God takes
mercy on His creatures. He Himself comes down in vile man's attire, to
suffer woe so that His children may be blessed. But again the same
trouble confronts us.

To understand the teachings of the Master and strictly follow them from
day to day, to confide in Him and to completely surrender one's self,
body and soul, to His will, is not an easy thing to do. Unless God and
Sadguru both take pity on a jiva, he cannot possibly see through to
Reality and escape from bondage. We with our limited understanding
cannot even listen comprehendingly to the Master's words. But in the
fullness of time when it so pleases God, He brings about a meeting
between a jiva and a Sant Satguru

The Master is in the likeness of God, though in physical raiment. He,
too, is endowed with the same attributes as God Himself. He, too, comes
to save the sinners and administer His Saving Grace among the rest. He
washes the jivas clean of their sins and gives the gift of His
Teachings, which acts as a sovereign remedy against all ills,
physical, accidental and spiritual.

The grace of the Master is as limitless as His greatness, so much so
that He forgives even those who talk ill of Him and accepts them as His
very own. The Master truly is God. He is a sea of heaving compassion.
All kinds of gifts eternally flow from Him like perennial springs of
cool and refreshing water. The blessings of the Supreme Lord are
limitless and do not at any time suffer from scarcity, but one partakes
of them only by extraordinary merit. A particle of grace is enough to
save a jiva from the ceaseless cycle of transmigration. Man by himself
is just a helpless creature and can do nothing. He
must not therefore feel vainglorious for what he seemingly does.

The panacea for all ills and the only way to win God's grace is perfect
surrender in all humility at the feet of the Master Soul.

Prayer for the Day!

Aum Sairam

Oh Sai Sadguru, the wish fulfilling tree of the Bhaktas, Let us never
forget and lose sight of Your Feet, we have been troubled with the
births and deaths in this sansar, now free us from this cycle of ins
and out births and deaths. Restrain us from the outgoing of our senses
to their objects and introvert us and bring us face to face with the
Self. As long as this outgoing tendency of the senses and the mind is
not checked, there is no prospect of self realization.

Neither son, nor wife nor friend will be of any use in the end. It is
only You, Who will give us salvation and happiness.

Destroy completely our tendency for discussions and other evil matters;
let our tongue get a passion for chanting Your name. Drive out our
thoughts, good or otherwise and make us forget our bodies and houses,
and do away with our egoism. Make us ever remember Your name and forget
all other things. Remove the restlessness of our mind, and make it
steady and calm. If you just clasp us, the darkness of night of our
ignorance will vanish and we shall live happily in Your light. That You
made us drink the nectar of Your Leela's and awakened us from our
slumber is due to Your grace and our store of merits in past births.

Oh Sadguru Sai, we bow to You, Who have given happiness to the whole
world, accomplished the welfare of the devotees and have removed the
affliction of those who have resorted to Your Feet. Being very liberal
and being the protector and savior of the Bhaktas who surrender
themselves to You.

You incarnate yourself in this world to oblige the people and do them
good. The liquid essence of Pure Self was poured into the mould of
Brahma and out of this has come out the crest jewel of the saints.

This Sai is Atmarama Himself. He is the abode of perfect divine bliss.
Having Himself attained all objects of life, He made His devotees
desire less and free.

True Service

Aum Sairam

True Service is Service done with a Pure Loving Heart and can be to
anything anyone be it Man Animal or even plant. It is a selfless
service which is done without expecting any reward in turn. There
should not be any ego while doing the service. If there is any
element of ego while doing the service, even the person receiving the
seva will not be comfortable. The opportunities for doing the service,
the financial position we are in, the job we have are all given by Sai.
By doing ego less service we are trying to give it back to Sai. We must
try to see Sai in all the living beings and while doing service, think
that we are doing service to none other than Sai.

Love All Serve All. Any Action performed with faith in god, to the
benefit of others, without expecting any materialistic reward to
thyself, but only expecting Gods grace, can be called as true Service.
In this service, if thought, word and deed harmonize the
service becomes an offering.

To help someone who is in trouble, someone who cannot afford for his
wellbeing, to share whatever we have with God by doing so. We should
not be unkind to all human beings or should not hurt anybody whether
mentally or physically.

True Service Means
S : Selflessness
E : Experience of Divinity
R : Rati i.e Love
V : Vision of Lord in those being served
I : Integrity of Thought, Word & Action
C : Compassion
E : Excitement

This in my view is the definition of true seva or service.

Why Do We Read Shree Bhagavad Gita

Why Do We Read Gita, Even If We Can't Understand A Sanskrit Word???

This is beautiful story - if inspired pls. forward else keep it can't
say when it might inspire you!

Story:

An old Farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson.
Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading
his Shri Bhagavad-Gita. His grandson wanted to be just like him and
tried to imitate him in every way he could.

One day the grandson asked, 'Grandpa! I try to read the Shri
Bhagavad-Gita just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do
understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading
the Shree Bhagavad-Gita do?'

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and
replied, 'Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a
basket of water'.

The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got
back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, 'You'll have to
move a little faster next time,' and sent him back to the river with
the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he
returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was
impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket
instead. The old man said, 'I don't want a bucket of water; I want a
basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough,' and he went out
the door to watch the boy try again.

At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show
his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water
would leak out before he got back to the house.

The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he
reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he
said, 'See Grandpa, it's useless!'

'So you think it is useless?' The old man said, 'Look at the basket.'
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the
basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal
basket and was now clean, inside and out.

'Son, that's what happens when you read the Shri Bhagavad-Gita. You
might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it,
you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Shree Krishna
in our lives.'
'Celebrate Life. Care for others and share whatever you have with those
less fortunate than you. Broaden your vision, for the whole world
belongs to you.'

Intuit And Do It

Aum Sairam

If doubt is challenging you and you do not act, doubts will grow.
Challenge the doubts with action and you will grow. Doubt and action
are incompatible.

To reap the greatest benefits from intuition, we need action. Be in
motion. Act as if your highest expectations have already happened. Be
in front of more opportunities and people. Let go of any blocks or
attachments. Create mental space and physical space. Plan your work and
work your plan.

Miracles rarely happen by doing nothing. Most miracles happen through
other people.
What actions can you take that will move you towards your goals?

Never forget that life can only be nobly inspired and rightly lived if
you take it bravely and gallantly, as a splendid adventure in which you
are setting out into an unknown country, to meet many a joy, to find
many a comrade, to win and lose many a battle.

The Nature Of Self

Aum Sairam

Sri Sai Baba's famous parables and cryptic remarks are well known.
These comments were always impregnated with a message directed towards
the individual who is addressed. Once, a devotee wanted to take a
photograph of Sri Sai Baba. When Sri Sai Baba was approached regarding
this, He said, No, it is enough if he knocks a wall down. The devotee
stood confused. Later, an explanation was given as follows: The
photograph is one's likeness of Sri Sai Baba. The wall is I am the body
idea, which is an obstacle that interferes with identifying the supreme spirit.

One straightforward remark of Sri Sai Baba has always been awakening
the self. The nature of self is not easily explained. The pursuit to
know the self is as varied as the individuals themselves. However, it
is said that one must have an honest yearning and God's grace to know
the nature of self. Now, why should one know the self? Shree Bhagwad
Gita says, With the self unattached to external contact, he finds
happiness in the Self; with the self engaged in the meditation of
Brahman, he attains endless happiness.

Allah Malik

Why Meditate?

Meditation brings wisdom; lack of meditation leaves ignorance. Know
well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the
path that leads to wisdom.

Meditation is considered an essential practice for those who seek
self-knowledge and self-mastery. Why? Basically, meditation brings
awareness of how our minds work. Over time, we become watchers, able to
detach from the thoughts and emotions that play out in our minds.

With this detachment, we gain the freedom to choose whether or not to
act on our thoughts and emotions. We learn to distinguish between
objective reality and our mental and emotional dramas.

Only in quiet waters things mirror themselves undistorted. Only in a
quiet mind is adequate perception of the world.

Does Baba Punish For Bad Action

Aum Sairam

Sri Sadguru Sainath strived all His life to uplift ordinary folk to the
realm of spirituality. He succeeded, in His own unique way, in making
all those who had the fortune to come in contact with Him, realize
their present and past mistakes, and correct their thoughts, words and
deeds. I am sure; Sri Sai Baba is still doing that.

He always said that one has to reap the results of one's action in this
life itself, and He is only an observer to the deeds of men. As a
Sadguru, whose sole purpose of Avatar is the upliftment of souls purely
due to His Infinite mercy, I do not think that He, as our ever
benevolent father, will ever punish His children for their mistakes,
committed knowingly or unknowingly. Punish may be too harsh a word in
His context. Yes, as God fearing people, we only feel that He punishes
us in the form of our sufferings.

Shri Sai Satcharitra clearly says that one cannot escape the
consequences of one's actions. Therefore, what we feel is Sadguru's
punishment is actually the results of our own past wicked deeds. So,
let us surrender at His lotus feet, and pray that He make us ever
vigilant in our thoughts, words, and deeds.

Since Sri Sai Baba is our Antaryami, He certainly knows all our
actions, good or bad. He also knows whether it was intentional or not,
and if intentional, the intention behind the action. If we think Baba
is separate from us like we think of God also, i.e. we operate with a
Dwaita Bhava, we must also accept that He will certainly reward us for
the good actions and of course punish us for the bad actions. This
implies that we have identified ourselves with our body or mind. This
also implies that we have desire for enjoying the fruits of our
actions. We may not actually desire to be punished, but that is a
natural consequence of this desire for rewards.

On the other hand, if we identify ourselves with Him [Baba, God, call
whatever you will], i.e. in true Advaita [non dual] mode, then we will
approach the question from a different perspective. Who does the karma,
punya / papa, good / bad actions? Is it the body, mind, the intellect
or something else? Who is that doer? What is our true nature?

If we accept that we are not different from God, read Sri Sai Baba's
teaching to Sri Nana Sahib Chandorkar, or putting it a little
differently that the Sishya is not different from the Guru and that
both are actually Gyanamurties, the only difference being that the
Sishya is deluded, while the Guru is not, then we are unaffected by
actions. We too, will accept everything as God's will and will observe
it like a witness.

Sri Sai Baba Himself used to say that, people unnecessarily attribute
to Him many things good or accuse Him of not doing well. He said that
He just looks a little ahead and tells them whatever is in store and
that He is a Witness. He also said that He is just an obedient servant
of God and He remembers Him often.

Recall what Sri Sai Baba said when Shama goes back to Him after
visiting his sister-in-law, who recovered from plague in just one
night, thanks to Sri Sai Baba's Udi. From a philosophical point of
view, destiny is of three types; what has been brought from the past,
what is being accumulated and what is in store for future. Our mind,
acts as per the previously accumulated destiny, which modifies the
present and thus paves the way for the future. It is as if we are
floating in a raft without any oar or rudder, down a river.

An observer seeing from a higher height can see ahead the path of the
river and May guide us or caution us. He may, if powerful enough throw
a rope to us and pull us to safety if needed. Sri Sai Baba was
certainly in that position of spiritual height and power. He knew
Allah's will and acted accordingly.

All actions and the fruits of the actions have only one purpose, viz.,
to teach us to go beyond our limited ego and learn to play our allotted
role in the drama of life without pride of doing. Once our intellect
takes control and our intellect will be awakened thanks to Sadguru Sri
Sai Baba, if we do Tadviddhi pranipatena pari prasnena sevaya, and we
start our journey to discover our true self, our desire for rewards of
actions is snapped and we are no longer affected by them. So neither
reward nor punishment affects us. We accept everything as His Will.

Complete Surrender To Guru

Aum Sairam

When you submit to Sri Sai Baba, submit yourself with kaya [body],
vacha [talk] and Mana [mind]. Please do not expect anything from our
Guru [teacher]. All these expectations like job, money or getting cured
from illness etc. are mohas [desires] surrounding your soul like
snakes. As a Bhakta [disciple], it is your duty to give unselfish love
to Sri Sai Baba. Guru gives knowledge, Shishya [disciple] absorbs it
and in return gives Guru his Gurudakshina [selfless love].

Invoke Karma [action] with his name. You should always have some goal
in mind. But do not expect Karmafala [expectation]. Talk soft and sweet
as if you are talking to Sri Sai Baba and see Him in everything.
Whatever you say, follow it. Your action should match your words. Bring
good and positive thoughts to your mind.

In short, follow Sri Sai Baba like a child. Grow from each experience.
Why trouble our Sri Sai Baba with our worries?

energy for positive achievement.

and the anger will dissolve. Instead of destructive rage, you'll see
creative possibilities.

dismay. You'll find yourself powerfully motivated to move positively forward.

You'll find a way to create new and lasting value.

Respond to life as if each moment is a grand experience, filled with
positive and unique possibilities. And that's just how it will be.

Sri Sai Baba Test Problems

Aum Sairam

May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success,
Happiness and Joy

What is Sri Sai Baba telling us with the problems He permits in our
life? The problems we face will either defeat us or develop our
depending on how we respond to them. Unfortunately most of us fail to
see how Sri Sai Baba wants to use problems for good in our lives. We
react foolishly and resent our problems rather than pausing to consider
what benefit we might bring.

Here are ways Sri Sai Baba wants to use the problems in our life.

Sri Sai Baba uses problems to direct us. Sometimes Sri Sai Baba must
light a fire under us to get us moving. Problems often point us in a
new direction and motivate us to change. Is Sri Sai Baba trying to get
our attention? Sometimes it takes a painful situation to make us change
our ways.

Sri Sai Baba uses problems to inspect us. We are like tea bags, if we
want to know what's inside us, just drop ourselves into hot water! Has
Sri Sai Baba ever tested our faith with a problem? What do problems
reveal about us? When we have many kinds of troubles, we should be full
of joy, because we know that these troubles test our faith, and this
will give us patience.

Sri Sai Baba uses problems to correct us. Some lessons we learn only
through pain and failure. It's likely that as a child our parents told
us not to touch a hot stove. But we probably learned by being burned.
Sometimes we only learn the value of health, money, a relationship. By
losing, it was the best thing that could have happened to us, for it
taught us to pay attention to our laws.

Sri Sai Baba uses problems to protect us. A problem can be a blessing
in disguise if it prevents us from being harmed by something more
serious. [You intended to harm me, but Sri Sai Baba intended it for good.]

Sri Sai Baba uses problems to perfect us. Problems, when responded to
correctly, are character builders. Sri Sai Baba is far more interested
in our character than our comfort. Our relationship to Sri Sai Baba and
our character are the only two things we are going to take with us into
eternity. We can rejoice when we run into problems, they help us learn
to be patient. The two thing which our Sri Sai Baba asks Faith and
Patience, as patience
develops strength of character in us and helps us trust Sri Sai Baba
more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong
and steady.

This Beautiful Thursday Sri Sai Baba is at work in our life, even when
we do not recognize it or understand it. But it's much easier and
profitable when we cooperate with Him.

Sri Sai Baba Within You

Aum Sairam

May This Thursday [Baba's Day] Bring You Strength, Good luck, Success,
Happiness and Joy

Sri Sai Baba is infinite love and peace.

Sri Sai Baba is the eternal light and joy that shine the whole
universe. People should rise to the occasion to do their duty. People
should reach the height and glory of Sri Sai Baba's supreme presence.
The feeling that I and mine should be given up and see every thing
equal. Have an elevated thinking.

Remember Sri Sai Baba in the beginning, in the middle, and in the end
for all ventures. Be humble, pure, simple, and innocent and Sri Sai
Baba is yours.

Sri Sai Baba in the form of love resides in everybody's heart and be
conscious of this at all times. Then your thoughts, words and actions
will be of love.

The light of Sri Sai Baba will always illuminate the heart and light
only can be seen inside and outside. Come out of the darkness of
ignorance enter into the light of knowledge then only we can feel the
presence of Sri Sai Baba the light of all lights.

Let all our actions are as per the directions of Sri Sai Baba within
us. Ego should be avoided to allow everything to be done at the will of
Sri Sai Sai Baba.

Detachment to perishable things and attachment to only Sri Sai Baba
will give peace of mind. Desire for material things is the cause for
all sorrows. Taking more than one's requirement will ultimately give
grief. Acquire knowledge which can't be stolen or lost.

Enjoy always the sunshine of Sri Sai Baba's splendor and glory.

Remember always Sri Sai Baba and live in tune with him. Be happy and
calm in all situations. See, hear, and speak only good things. Serve
the needy and sick wholeheartedly.

Total surrender to Sri Sai Baba will give peace of mind.

Remember always Sri Sai Baba's grace for all achievements. Avoid self
praise and say only good things about others. See everybody with
respect irrespective of caste color and creed.

Anger, lust and ego are the only enemies. Purify the heart for Sri Sai
Baba to sit in. There is no greater virtue than humility, no vice
greater than pride. Be sincere in all works, work is worship.

Make Sri Sai Baba your friend, philosopher and guide.

Don't get dejected in failure and fall; Sri Sai Baba's grace will be
upon us.

Always you are one with Sri Sai Baba and different from Him. Like a
flower give always the perfume of love and joy. Pray for the awareness
that always you may be in Him and He in you.

Remember always that everything in the Universe belongs to Sri Sai
Baba, nothing is ours. We have got this birth at the will of Sri Sai
Baba and we are on our way to Him.

Know that our goal is to rest in peace with Sri Sai Baba. Always
remember that we are the immortal spirit.

Chanting the name of Sri Sai Baba will save us from fear, doubt and anxiety.
Supreme knowledge is ultimate devotion to Sri Sai Baba.
What ever we do will be seen by Sri Sai Baba.

Overeating, earning money by unlawful means, desire for others property
are our weakness.

We are all safe in the hands of Sri Sai Baba.

Sri Sai Baba manifesting Himself as a person; the object of worship of
the Bhakt's. By worshiping Sri Sai Baba as a person, devotees are able
to assume human like relationships with Sri Sai Baba, for example: Sri
Sai Baba as parent, devotee as child; Sri Sai Baba as Lord, devotee as
servant. It is also much easier for many people to develop love toward
Sri Sai Baba when He is regarded as a person. Such love is capable of
triggering a spiritual awakening once it is a pure, selfless love.

In this kalyug Chant always the name of Sri Sai Baba.
Sri Sai Baba can assume any form to protect the devotees.
To serve the devotees is equal to serve Sri Sai Baba.
Awake, arise on this Beautiful Thursday and do your duty justifiably.
Sri Sai Baba will be always with you.

All Saints Are One

Aum Sairam

Let us use hot water in the form of tears of joy to wash the Sadguru's
feet. Let us besmear His body with sandal-paste of pure love. Let us
cover His body with the cloth of true faith,, let us offer eight
lotuses in the form of our eight satwik emotions and fruit in the form
of our concentrated mind; let us apply to His head bukka in the form of
devotion, and tie the waistband of Bhakti, and place our head on His toes.

The efficacy of God's Name is well-known. It saves us from all sins and
frees us from the cycle of births and deaths. There is no easier
Sadhana than this. It is the best purifier of our mind. It requires no
paraphernalia and no restrictions.

The disciple placing his head on the Guru's feet is a gross out ward
vision; really and internally they are both one and the same. Those,
who see any difference between them, are yet unripe and not perfect.

When a man takes refuge at the feet of the Sadguru, he gets the merit
of bowing to the Trinity, i.e., Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh and also Para-Brahma.

The Vedas cannot take you across the ocean of Maya, it is only the
Sadguru, who can do so and make you, see the Lord in all creatures.

It is always the experience of the Bhaktas that God always helps them
in their search for Sadguru and other spiritual endeavors.

Both the Guru and the disciple should love and serve each other. Both
are one and one cannot live without the other.

All saints are one, and they work in unison.

The World Is Real

Aum Sairam

Embodiments of Divine Love! You are engaged in various spiritual
exercises. Some call this world illusory and ephemeral. It is described
as "Maya" or "Mithya"- as illusion or delusion. This is entirely wrong.
I am Real. You are real. The whole universe is real. Consciousness is
immanent in everything. Everything is a manifestation of Brahman. When
we recognize this unity that underlies everything we shall he able to
know the nature of Divinity.

To go about describing the world as unreal, illusory and impermanent
will amount to practicing a deception on the people and not proclaiming
the truth. If the world is unreal, even the teaching that it is unreal
is equally unreal and has no meaning. No. That is not so. This Cosmos
is real. It is not a question of seeing truth within the unreal or the
unreal in the truth. It is the recognition of the Real in the
Real "Sathyamuloni Sathyamu". It is only when this basic truth is
recognized that we shall be competent to grasp the nature of our
inherent reality.

The Cosmos is real. The forms in it may change. Bodies may change. It
is the nature of bodies to undergo change. Change is the characteristic
of the evolutionary process. But what should be recognized is that at
the core of all things is a fundamental Reality. This is the triple
Principle: Asti, Bhaati, Priyam [Existing. Shining and Pleasing] or
Sat-Chit-Ananda or Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram, or Truth, Goodness and Beauty.

Total Surrender

Aum Sairam

Sri Sai Baba carved a golden path to blessedness for us; a sublime
culture which is a sure path to blessedness. He planted the banner of
Truth, the banner of Divine Peace and Universal Love, the banner of
Righteousness and True Dharma

When mind and body are offered at the Lotus Feet of the beloved Sadguru
they are purified. With body attired in His identity, in His proud
uniform and with mind rolling at His holy feet, the Divine controls
both mind and body.

The mind remains dyed with the Nectar of the Divine Name and the body
performs only pure and heroic deeds.

This in itself is indicative of a total surrender, a total sacrifice as
the first and the foremost essential prerequisite for earning and
attaining His Grace Eternal. We have to offer our head at His Holy
Feet, Thereafter, with headless [ego less] existence, having died while
living, be blessed with Nectar of Immortality from the holy hands of
our beloved Sadguru Sri Sai Baba of Shirdi.

Emotions

Aum Sairam

Emotions are the next frontier to be understood and conquered. To
manage our emotions is not to drug them or suppress them, but to
understand them so that we can intelligently direct our emotional
energies and intentions....It's time for human beings to grow up
emotionally, to mature into emotionally managed and responsible
citizens. No magic pill will do it.

Many of us believe that we need to keep a tight lid on our emotions. We
fear that if we ever allow these emotions to be expressed, they will do
serious damage.

But if we summon up the courage to truly feel our emotions, we discover
that they don't last. The monster in the closet turns out to be a
pussycat. In fact, if we are willing to experience our emotions
completely, without resistance of any kind, they burn themselves out in
only a few minutes.

The only thing that keeps emotions alive within you over long periods
is your unwillingness to acknowledge them.

By starving emotions we become humorless, rigid and stereotyped; by
repressing them we become literal, reformatory and holier-than-thou;
encouraged, they perfume life; discouraged, they poison it.

Sri Sai Consciousness

Aum Sairam

For one who remembers the lotus feet of Sri Sai Baba, all
inauspiciousness soon disappears, and one's good fortune expands. In
other words, one becomes free from all material contamination, one
attains liberation from repeated birth and death, and one's real
spiritual life begins. As one's heart becomes gradually purified, one's
devotion for the Lord within the heart awakens, and one realizes the
Paramatma. Thus one gradually develops knowledge [jnana], realization
[vijnana], and renunciation [vairagya].

Sri Sai consciousness, remembrance of the divine Lotus feet of - Sai
-padaravindayoh - will dissipate; destroy the abhadra, what is
undesirable, what is not good in us. That which is nasty, which is
impure within us, will be destroyed by the continuance of Sri Sai
consciousness. In any stage of its development, even in its lower
stage, its slightest, negligent connection can destroy our undesirable
connection with things of lower nature. And, it will promote goodness
within us: sattvasya-suddhim, the substantial character of our
existence, will be improved; our soul existence that will be purified.
Our stand point, our understanding, our aspiration everything, will be
purified. And, paramatma-bhaktim: we shall attain devotion, attachment
to the super subjective realm, and our knowledge,
our conception about that - jnanam ca - will improve. And that
knowledge - the conception about Him - will develop to vijnana, a
proper connection, and will affect in us viraga-yuktam, apathy to this
mundane world.

At any cost, we are to maintain our Sri Sai consciousness. The advice
is: try to maintain Sri Sai consciousness, it is the medicine. And
there is no other medicine which can produce Sri Sai consciousness,
which can cure our disease and discover Sri Sai consciousness within us.

Five Greatest Thieves

Aum Sairam

The five greatest thieves of the world are the five living Perfect
Masters of their time. They often steal the hearts of people.

The state of God Realization, Infinite Knowledge, Power and Bliss
cannot be described. It can only be known to those who achieve that
supreme experience of the conscious state of God. God-Realization is
beyond the domain of the mind.

The five Perfect Masters are the five Persons of their age who not only
become God but, after achieving God-Realization, also come down to the
ordinary normal consciousness of man. Thus they possess simultaneously
God-Consciousness plus mental, subtle and gross consciousness the world
is never without the five Persons who are God-Conscious, who are
Perfect Masters.

In spite of appearing as five different Persons, they are and always
remain one God, as each one has exactly the same supreme experience of
God-Consciousness. Nevertheless, in external relations with the world,
each shows a different personality, with his or her own characteristic
traits, nature, habits and ways of dealing with people.

Hazrat Babajan: Oh Babajan! Our loving and full hearted homage to you!
Your kiss awakened the Awakener and gave him bliss! You reveled the
Formless One!

Upasani Maharaj: Oh Upasni Maharaj, our repeated salutations to you!
Your name will be revered for ages to come! You brought down the
Ancient One and gave him the knowledge to wipe away the tears of our Age!

Narayan Maharaj: Oh Narayan Maharaj! Our repeated salutations to you!
You garlanded the Ancient One with your grace! You enthroned the King
of the
universe!

Sri Sai Baba: Oh Nameless One! Oh you who are called Sai! How can we
repay you for what you have done for us? You brought Formless God into
form and gave him
power!

Tajuddin Baba: Oh Tajuddin Baba, you are Hazrat --a great one! We bow
to you your wine still flows in our hearts! You showered roses and
crowned our King!

Bless U

Aum Sairam

Sri Sai Still Sits On The Throne.

Each and everyone one of us is going through tough times right now, but
God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith.

The prayer:

Oh Sai, I ask You to bless my friends and those that I care deeply for.
Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. I ask You to
minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give
them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self doubt, release a renewed
confidence through Your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to
fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, their goings and
their comings.

Wake Me Up

Aum Sairam

Oh my strength, I will watch for you; for you, Oh Sai is my fortress.

There are times when life presses down so hard upon us that we feel as
if we can hardly breathe. We struggle underneath a weight so heavy that
the air itself seems compressed and flat. While the ache and sorrow are
almost more than we can bear, we are often more awake and aware at
times of crisis than at any other times in our life. This is, perhaps,
one of the great graces of suffering. Every cell stands at attention
and life is fully real. There are no illusions, no sleeping through the struggle.

In our painful wakefulness we find our soul straining for the glance of
heaven. We seek either a release from the suffering or a reason for it.
We wait, we watch, we wait, we watch. We pour out our heart in prayer
and look for the signs that heaven has heard. And then the moment
comes. The Holy One lifts from us the misery that has held us captive.
We find we have been plumped up again with hope. Our heart fills with
gratitude, and we realize that the suffering that was so unwelcome has
actually brought us closer to the love and touch of God.

Oh Sai, when suffering blinds me to the goodness of life; waken me by
the heat of
your love.
