The Oldest Sai Devotee – Story of Geetabai Gadhiya

Aum Sai Ram.

A 105 year old lady, Geetabai Gadhiya from Rahata Taluka of Ahmednagar District in Maharashtra, India, is the only person alive today who CLAIMS that she has actually seen Shirdi Saibaba in real.

She has not only seen but spoken to Baba, touched his feet & received offerings from HIS divine Hands also! We look at the Statue of Sai Baba; Geetabai has actually seen Sai Baba in real!
---------------------------------------------------------

We make offerings at Saibaba’s feet; Geetabai has offered directly in Sai Baba’s hands! We have only heard about Sai Baba; Geetabai has heard Sai Baba HIMSELF!

We recently came to know about Sai Baba; Geetabai has known Sai Baba since the last 95 years! We have the Darshan of Baba’s Samadhi; Geetabai has touched the Holy Feet of Sai Baba! We have written many Sai Bhajans; Geetabai has heard Sai Baba sing!

We go walking to Shirdi; Geetabai has been carried by her father to Shirdi. We offer Naivedya to Baba; Geetabai’s small hands were filled with offerings by Sai Baba! We call out to Sai Baba; Geetabai has been called out by Sai Baba HIMSELF!
---------------------------------------------------------

Geetabai was merely 10 years old when she saw Baba but despite her age of 105 years now she has a sharp memory of her childhood while she recalls every detail of the time she spent with Baba.
---------------------------------------------------------

Apart from having 3 Heart Strokes 10 years back, Geetabai today lives on with her 7th generation of descendants and as healthy as before WITHOUT any sort of dependence on Doctors / Medicines what-so-ever.

Seeing her Health in such a good shape at her age, many Big Doctors salute her. She can see, hear and talk properly and also does sing Sai Bhajans written by herself. She follows her daily routine of getting up early morning at 03:00 am & carries on throughout the day on her own without anyone’s help.

She consumes light food, dry fruits and clarified butter (Ghee). Geetabai has seen Sai Baba’s Cooking pot, Wheat Grinding Hand Mill and the ever burning Dhuni. She has seen Baba wash his clothes and hang to dry there in the Wada itself.
---------------------------------------------------------

Her father’s sister used to stay right besides Dwarkamai in Shirdi, so when Geetabai was 10 years old, she used to go to stay at her house and as in those days, girls were not allowed to go out of the house, much so was also the case with Geetabai but whenever she was allowed to go out and play she used to go and play in Dwarkamai with Sai Baba.

She describes how Baba used to dress up and looked as HE does in HIS photographs. She says on seeing her, Baba used to ask her if she wanted money etc.,

She says that Baba used to get on a moving bus when he used to go to Rahata and likewise HE used to get down also while the bus was on the move. When Baba used to go to Rahata, many shopkeepers used to openly make offerings to Baba which he would distribute it to all after HIS return to Shirdi.
---------------------------------------------------------

Geetabai was fortunate to have received such an offering of dry fruits directly from Baba. As during those days there were lots of restrictions on children from roaming out of the house or interacting with anyone, Geetabai could not witness any Miracle of Baba nor does she know as to how big were the crowds which came for Darshan to Baba but she does vouch for the efficacy of Baba’s Udi, for which she gives herself as an example.

She said that she used to refer to Sai Baba as ‘Miracle Baba’ for the Miracles he used to do. As she was very young at that time she was not aware of who Sai Baba actually was until after his Maha-Samadhi, they realized that he was GOD!

Shirdi Sai Baba: Har Pal Herbal.

Aum Sai Ram.

In Sai ‪Satcharitra‬ Ch. 7, A Beautiful Description Is Given Of Baba Being The Famous Hakim Of ‪Shirdi‬. In The Early Days, Baba Roamed About Here And There, In The Thickets, Brambles And Jungles. Most People Thought That He Roamed Aimlessly. But The Compassionate Fakir Would Go And Collect Indigenous Plants, Leaves And Seeds. These He Would Use As A Remedy And As Cure For The Numerous Devotees Who Flocked To Him For Physical Relief.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Once The Daughter-In-Law Of Hari Bhau Karnik Became Mentally Imbalanced. Karnik Heard The Sad News And Set Out To See Her. She Resided In Andheri, Bombay.

He Caught A Local Train To Go And Meet Her. When The Train Reached Palghar, He Suddenly Saw A Fakir Wearing A Kafni Seated Behind Him. The ‪Fakir‬ Said, "Lord Parmeshwar Has Created All Varieties Of Trees, For Their Utilization By Humanity. But They Know Little About Their Significance Or Use. I Know Them Pretty Well." Then Pointing To One Particular Tree, He Said, "If The Leaves Of This Tree Are Ground And The Juice Given To A Madman, He Will Be Alright."

Karnik Was Deep In Thought And He Was Unaware Of His Surroundings. Only Upon Reaching Bandra Did He Snap Out Of His Reverie. He Looked Around For The Fakir, But He Wasn't There. Upon Reaching His Son' S Home, He Quickly Procured The Leaves Of The Tree And Administered The Juice To His Daughter-In-Law Just As The Fakir Had Advised.

'Lo! She Became Alright!'

Two Years Later, She Had Become Mentally Imbalanced Again. He Used The Same Leaves, And This Time, She Became All Right For Life.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Once A Devotee Came To Him, As His Eyes Were Red, Painful And Swollen. ‪Sai baba‬ Took Some Crushed Biba Seeds (Marking Nuts) And Made Two Balls Out Of Them. Then, He Placed Then On Each Eye And Bandaged Them. The Next Day, He Removed Everything And Poured Water Over The Eyes And Behold, The Eyes Were Clear And Bright Again.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Shama Suffered From Hemaroids (Piles) And The Pain And Burning Was Severe. The Compassionate Baba Gave Him A Decoction Of Sona Mukhi (Senna Pods) And He Was Relieved. Two Years Later, The Condition Reoccurred And Shama, On His Own Accord, Took The Same Senna Pods, Only To Find The Condition Aggravated (Sai Satcharitra Ch.13).

GURU CULT OF SAIBABA

Aum Sai Ram.

The Guru cult of Baba was unique and extraordinary. It was different from the traditional manners of teaching and educating disciples.

Baba's guru fed Him with the food of Gnyana, Karma, Bhakti and Yoga through the portals of faith, loyalty and perseverance.

His guru gifted Him with all the merits of his lifelong penance through his look of grace. He encased Baba's all Karmas in a brick and indemnified Him from effects of Karma and prarabdha.

This divine love was freely distributed by Baba to his Bhaktas who remembered him incessantly, sang His name and His glory and meditated on His form.
----------------------------------------------------

Baba used to say in clear and unequivocal terms to sadhaka bhaktas: - 'You practise Mantra, Tantra, Japa, Tapa; Yoga, Yaga, Gnyana, Dhyana or do not follow any such practice.

Ultimately you have to come to Me for the fulfillment of your Sadhana. You can reach the Mukti by dint of firm faith, and absolute surrender to Me. This faith and dedication is the mother of grace.
----------------------------------------------------

Baba used to add further:- "Bhakti will lead you to Bhavavastha, Dhyana will elevate you to Sahajavastha, Unattached dutiful karma will raise you to Naishkamya stage.

Yoga will gear you upto casual body. But you cannot progress any further without My grace. All your efforts will be insufficient without the help of automatic gears of Guru's grace or God's mercy.

The automatic support of grace will put you on the higher level of unmani, beyond turiya stage. The divine area lies beyond casual body.

Here chidakasha lifts you upto Mahadakasha or supra casual level. You will enter the Nirvikalpa only with the motor force of my personal love and grace. The nada, bindu, kala and the ultimate illumination is not apart from My supreme self".
----------------------------------------------------

The Ritambhara genius roused by the touch of Baba's grace has unfolded His precious upadehsa to me in rhythmic poetry.

Drinking the honey of Baba's auspicious vedas and unbound mahima my heart is intoxicated with celestial joy and bliss. Call this 'Divine love' or 'Nityavadhana' (constant awareness of Atman).

It gives me depth of Devotion, equal vision of Dnyana, Dedication of Karma, and merger of prana and mona which is Yoga. I see with the eye of Sanjaya and hear the dialogue of Baba and his choicest devotee.
----------------------------------------------------

Partake of the feast of knowledge served in the following paras.

Baba : I am moksha incarnate, I am the Gurumantra and Gurus' command. Bear this in mind, my dear Devotee.

Devotee : You are the source of Ananda. you are the full moon of grase. I am your chakor, 0 Sai.

BABA : I am the image of liberation I am the mantra of moksha myself. I am the commandment given by Guru. I have no other upadesha. Bear this in mind.
----------------------------------------------------

* All sacred waters are whirling round My feet. Ail shashtras are stuffed in My words. All sadhanas are worshipping Me. My message to you is that you should know for certain that I am yours and you are Mine. Infuse this teaching in your heart as My choicest sermon to My dear devotee.

* This thread of kinship is pulling you to Me. This bond of love is weaving our births together in a beautiful garland of unity. It is for this endearment that I have donned the robe of a Fakir, a man of compassions and renouncement.

* My loving look is like a female tortoise protecting her young ones from a distance by the touch of her sight. My eyes are looking at you caressingly without even a wink. They pierce the curtain of time and space.

* When the bond of samsar is broken and falls asunder - by the magic touch of My look of grace, the iron walls of separateness fall down and the shower of Amrit drenches the soil inside.

* Do not step into purposeless wordy warfare of philosophies, do not follow shashtras and puranas. Do not drift in blind devotion. Do not isolate yourself in penance or japa recitations. The singular sadhana you should resort to is of absolute surrender at My feet. This will carry you to the desired goal.

* Fix your eyes on My feet, merge your mind in My recollection, immerse your intellect in My contemplation. Cast away the identity of your individual body, mind and entire existence and merge consciousness in My form.

* Throw of all sankalpas and vikalpas, all designs and doubts. Stabilize your mind in unruffled peace. Entrust the helm of your life boat to Me. I am but a servant of a Bhakta, whose faith is unequalled and implicit. You should not doubt over this declaration of Mine.

* I am the miraculous merger of prana and mana. I am the sonorous sound of beating of Anahata drums. I am the lustrous flame of Atman. Hold fast to My arm and enter the portals of unfathomable void in My company.

* I am the fragrance of the thousand petaled lotus in the head, t am the drop of Amrit oozing down the Satravikala. I am the unqualified supreme state of Ananda. I am the omkar sound rising up the navel to the crest point. My residence is the point in Kailasa part of the brain, where source of Amrit is Stored,
You are the Full Moon of Grace
----------------------------------------------------

Devotee:* You are the full moon of grace. I am your thirsty chakor. You are the source of delight and the root of Ananda.

* You are the throb of supreme light, which I cannot perceive with my blind eyes.

* You are the sound of Anahata, beating its echo in mundane world. You are the mystic wave of ecstacy in my heart. You are ocean of compassion and bliss.

* You are the magic touch of grace which converts distress into joyful exhuberance.

* You are haven of peace while I am seething restlessness. You are divine rhythm of Ananda, whereas I'm volatile buoyant words. You reside in my prana, mana, buddhi and ego, illumining my entire existence and infusing Brahmananda within.

* The rhythmic words dance in a symm3trical gait in my songs of devotion for you.

The wall of resistence around the flood of love in my heart has been dismantled by you.

* You have blown the fragrance of bliss. The bondage of samsar breaks at your touch of grace, I remain at Your feet as an end-product of Supreme Ananda", .

Baba's Ashta Maha Siddhis

Aum Sai Ram.

Hari Kanoba of Bombay, heard about Baba's Leelas and His compassion for the devotees through his relatives and friends. He wanted to test Baba himself and came to Shirdi as a tamasha seeker. He was wearing a jari bordered turban and had a new pair of slippers.

Leaving the chappals in a corner near the courtyard of the Masjid, he made a reverential bow to Baba, took udi and prasad from Baba. And when he returned to the corner to take his chappals he found them missing. He searched hither and tither in vain and returned to his lodgings much dejected.
-----------------------------------------------

After his meals, he came out to wash his hands when a boy was coming towards his lodge. He had a stick in his hand with a pair of chappals hanging on either side and was crying loudly "Harika Beta - Jhari Ka Pheta". He was yelling - that Baba wanted him to yell like that and if anyone claims the chappals, Baba wanted him to assure whether his name was Harika (Kanoba) son of Hari and also had a jari bordered turban on his head.

Hari Kanoba showed his jari bordered turban claimed the chappals as his own, saying that he was Kanoba son of Hari. It was however a mystery to Kanoba as to how Baba was able to guess his name as that was his first visit to Shirdi and had not told anyone. He came with the sole object of testing Baba and this incident opened his eyes and made him realise that Baba was a Satpurush.
-----------------------------------------------

Moolay Sastri of Nasik, an orthodox Agnihotri, well versed in the sastras, came to Shirdi to meet Mr. Bapusaheb Booty, the millionaire of Nagpur. After meeting him he went to the Masjid along with others out of curiosity to see Baba. Thinking himself to be very orthodox he remained at the entrance of the Masjid and joining his hands threw flowers at Baba.

All of a sudden he saw before him his late Guru Golap and not Baba. He was dumb-founded. He pinched himself to know whether it was a dream. His doubts about Baba vanished, and he rushed towards Baba and fell at His feet.

When he rose up he saw Baba calm and composed and asked for Dakshina. The blissful form of Baba raptured Moolay Sastri and his eyes welled with tears. He realised the greatness of Baba and with reverence he bowed, received prasad and paid Dakshina.
-----------------------------------------------

A Mamlatdar with his doctor friend came to Shirdi. The doctor said that his deity was Rama and so he would not bow to Baba. But when the Doctor entered the Masjid, he saw his Deity Rama sitting there.

Forgetting his resolve, he rushed forth and prostrated before Baba. When he stood up and looked he saw Baba smiling at him. "Is this a dream!" the Doctor said, "Baba is a Yoga Sampanna.

Next day the Doctor made a vow that he would be on fast and resolved not to go to the Masjid unless Baba called him. Three days passed and there was no call from the Masjid. On the fourth day a friend of his from Kandesh arrived and with him the Doctor also went to the Masjid for dharsan.

Baba asked him whether anybody had gone to his place to call him. Hearing this the Doctor was surprised at Baba's omniscience and was visibly moved. The same night he was blessed by Baba and he experienced supreme Bliss. His devotion to Baba increased manifold.
-----------------------------------------------

A Sadhak of Yoga came to Shirdi with Nana Chandorkar. Though he had studied all yogas, he had no practical experience and hence had a restless mind.

He thought Baba will find him a solution. But when he entered the Masjid, he saw Baba eating stale bread with onion.

Baba said, "Oh Nana, he who has the power to digest onion should eat and none else." Hearing this, the Yogi was wonderstruck and prostrated at Baba's feet with a pure mind. He earnestly requested Baba to solve his difficulties and Baba guided him.
-----------------------------------------------

Kaka Mahajani a devout baktha of Sai, once came with his master, Thakkar to Shirdi. Thakkar took with him another friend, since Kaka usually stayed for three or four days in Shirdi.

Kaka had bought two seers of raisins with seed to be given to Baba. At the Masjid Mr. Thakkar met Balasaheb a friend of his and asked him why he had come there. The friend replied "For Dharsan". Mr. Thakkar again asked whether any miracles will take place for which the friend replied that it was not his attitude; but the earnest desires of devotees were fulfilled by Baba.

Kaka prostrated before Baba and offered the raisins. Baba ordered for the distribution of the raisins. Thakkar got some, but he did not like them as they were with seeds which his doctor had advised not to take.

He thought if Baba was a saint why he was ignorant of his dislike for the raisins with seeds. Reading his mind, Baba again gave him some raisins and asked him to eat.

With a disturbed mind he ate it; but to his surprise he found them to be seedless. That was a miracle which Thakkar wanted. He asked Kaka who was nearby as to what raisins he got to which the reply was "Raisins with seeds".

Yet another miracle. Thakkar again thought that if Baba was a real Saint, the raisins should now be given to Kaka first. Reading this thought also, Baba ordered that the raisins should now be distributed from Kaka. The doubting Thomas - Tharkad horripilated and was wonder struck at Baba's Omniscience.

After the noon Arthi. Thakkar took leave of Baba and desired that Kaka also should accompany him. Baba read this thought also and asked Kaka to leave Shirdi with his master.
-----------------------------------------------

Sai Bandhus, The Fakir of Shirdi is the Man of Power. Though He left His mortal coil nearly seven decades ago, He is still with us and helps those who pin their unalloyed faith in Him, according to His promises.

He says "I am ever living to help and guide all, who come to Me, who surrender to Me and who seek refuge in Me. If you Look to Me, I Look To you. There will never be any dearth or scarcity regarding food and clothes in My devotee's house.
-----------------------------------------------
It is my special characteristic that I always look to and provide for the welfare of those devotees who worship me whole heartedly with their minds fixed on me,"

How many of us follow this Golden Path. Baba is ever watchful over us. Every act of ours, dubious or otherwise/ whether done in darkness or light scrupulous or unscrupulous, does not escape His attention.

He acts slowly but surely and rewards or punishes according to one's own deeds It is upto us to mend ourselves and act with the Fear of Sai in our heart and treading the path of truth and sincerity and render selfless service devoid of all egoism.

SAMADHI & PUNYATHITHI OF BHAU MAHARAJ KUMBHAR

Aum Sai Ram

This Samadhi is adjacent to Nanavali's Samadhi. Sant Bhau Maharaj Kumbhar was highly spiritual and an ascetic from a very young age.
----------------------------------------

His ancestors lived in a small village called Kairey Neemgaon of Sangamner District of Maharashtra and were Kumbhars (potters) by caste and profession and hence the surname.

Bhau Maharaj came to Shirdi from that village as a young man and never went back.
----------------------------------------

In Shirdi he stayed near the Shani Temple. At other times he stayed below the huge banyan tree, on the way to Rahata. Sometimes, he went to Rahata, Sakori, Neemgaon and other neighbouring villages but always returned to Shirdi.

Kumbhar was the kindhearted Baba devotee, who loved children and trees alike. He was very unselfish, and would give away clothes and food that were given to him by the villagers.

He took Bhiksha and survived on the food that he thus received. He was sensitive to other peoples’ needs.

Sometimes he begged for alms or asked visiting devotees for money. But as soon as he received it he distributed it to the poor and homeless.
----------------------------------------

On rare occasions he kept a small amount of it, and bought some sugar and gave it to the children; at other times he bought medicines that a child was prescribed, and gave it to the mother.

The clothes or blankets that he received he gave it to the needy. He loved all living things, and was known to wrap a blanket around a tree, as he felt the tree also felt the bitter cold of Shirdi.
----------------------------------------

Bhau Maharaj had cordial relationship with everyone. He spoke softly and respectfully. The villagers and visiting devotees liked and respected him.

Sometimes mischievous people fought with him and stole the money or the clothes that he had received. This did not bother him and he showed no rancour towards the thieves.

He did not hoard anything; his earthly possessions consisted of a staff, a khadi dhoti, a khadi turban and vest. On his shoulder he always carried a blanket made of sheep’s wool.
----------------------------------------

Bhau Maharaj kept himself busy cleaning the streets of Shirdi. Between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. he swept each and every street of Shirdi.

This he did with his own blanket. Besides, he cleaned every gutter and every outdoor sink where the housewives wash their utensils and clothes.

He swept the streets again before dusk, and pulled out any floating debris from the gutters. Whether it rained or was scorching hot he did not deviate from his daily routine.
----------------------------------------

At about 5 a.m., he went and had Baba’s darshan. This he did rather secretively. In fact, he went many times in the day and Baba communicated with him verbally or silently.

The other devotees did not know when he went for darshan. Nor could they decipher the spiritual guidance given by Baba.

Bhau treasured the spiritual sessions that he had with Baba and did not divulge their contents to anyone. Once Butti asked him about it. Bhau Maharaj smiled and replied “My father gives me 1/4th of his Bhakari and tells me sweet stories”.

After Baba took Mahasamadhi, Bhau Maharaj took darshan of his Samadhi several times in the day.

This he did secretly and no one could figure out when he went for Darshan. The attachment between Baba and Bhau Maharaj was very deep and strong.

About a week before he took Samadhi, Bhau Maharaj was sick. He had loss of appetite and did not eat anything. He drank a great deal of water.

The symptoms indicated that he had severe diabetes. Raghuvir Bhaskar Purandare and Sagunmeru Naik looked after him and took great care of him.

He breathed his last on Chaitra Krishna Paksha Tritiya the 12th Shake 1860 (i.e., 27th April 1937). The news of his demise spread like wildfire.

The devotees gathered together and built his Samadhi under the neem tree on the way to Lendi Baugh.
----------------------------------------

On 7th May 1937 i.e, 12th Day of his demise there was a grand Bhandara (feast) in the honour of the gentle saint.

The next day (i.e., 13th day) there was another feast of Shira (a type of halva made with jaggery) and a multitude of devotees were fed to their hearts’ content.

On this auspicious day a beautiful portrait of Sant Bhau Maharaj Kumbhar was given a place of honour in the Samadhi Mandir photograph gallery.

Every year in Chaitra Masa, the Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan performs his Punyatithi and a grand Bhandara is organized, and any and everyone can partake in it.

Even today many mothers, bring their infants and lay them on his Samadhi, and take a little dust from it, and apply it to the forehead of the child with a prayer that the child may grow up to become just like him.

Shirdi: What A Want Of Water.

Aum Sai Ram.

06th May2016.

‪Shirdi‬ (Ahmednagar): Water Scarcity Knows No Barriers In Parched Ahmednagar District Of Maharashtra. Even The Cash-Rich Saibaba Sansthan Trust In Shirdi Is Finding It Difficult To Quench The Thirst Of Thousands Of Devotees Of ‪Saibaba‬.

The Trust Is Among The Richest In The Country And Can Easily Buy Water. Officials Said The Trust Has Precious Stones And Diamonds Worth Rs 9.16 Crore, And 392 Kg Gold, 4,178 Kg Silver And Bank Deposits Amounting To Rs 1,578 Crore. Despite Being Flush With Funds, There Is Hardly Any Water In The Rivers, Canals Or Wells That Dot The District Which The Trust Can Source And Buy. The Daily Footfall Is Nearly 50,000 And The Trust Is Struggling To Cater To Their Water Requirements, He Admitted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

"We Commissioned Water Tankers By Paying Rs 31 Lakhs In February And Rs 19 Lakhs In March. The Trust Needs About 20-22 Lakh Litres Every Day," Said Rajendra Jagtap, Chief Of Shirdi Trust's Water Department.

The Trust Owns 12 Wells But They Have All Run Dry. As Of Now, Tankers From Ahmednagar City And Nearby Areas Are Commissioned. About 50 - 60 Tankers Ply And Make Trips When Water Is Needed.

The Trust Uses The Godavari Canal's Water. "But The Water Level In The Canal Has Depleted. We Have Also Closed Almost 50% Of The Rooms In Bhakta-Nivas," Jagtap Added.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A Devotee Remarked That "Until A Proper Board Is Formed In Shirdi Which Can Manage The Sansthan And Such Issues, Nothing Is Going To Happen At Ground Level. There Are Several Ways To Handle Drought Issues At Villages, If One Has Wealth Like Shirdi Sansthan Has.

Pipe Lines Can Be Installed, More Bore Wells Can Be Constructed. Moreover There Are No Trees In Shirdi Village Due To Increasing Construction Of Buildings. This Is One Of Major Issues Of Ever Increasing Heat There.

Shirdi Sansthan Is Still Using Steel Plates To Serve Food. They Are Not Using Any Disposable Patras. Due To Which Lakhs Of Litres Of Water Go Waste In Washing Them."
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Measures taken to Reduce Water Usage by Sansthan Trust.

1.    Disposable Paper Plates are being used in Prasadalay instead of Steel Plate. This is a Welcome Sign.

2.    Closing of 50% of Rooms in the Sansthan Guest House, Especially during Summer Hoildays. This is Not Accepted. There is a Exponential Raise in Prices of Private Hotel Room.

Why do you have to lie for such an Insignificant Thing? - Sai Baba Diya Lighting Story!

Aum Sai Ram.

Why do you have to lie for such an insignificant thing?
---------------------------------------------------------------

Shirdi was a humble, poverty stricken village. There were very few shops in the village. Those few were mostly the grocers. Sai Baba would daily beg oil from the shopkeepers to light the lamps at the Masjid. In the same manner he would light lamps in the temples too. He used to conduct the festivals of lighting lamps at these places of worship. The shopkeepers were irritable at his begging for oil every day from them.
---------------------------------------------------------------

One day they all got together and discussed the matter. “From where can we give this man free oil every day?” They decided not to give him any more oil.

When Baba went to beg for oil, he got the same answer everywhere. “There is no stock, we are out of oil” Baba was surprised, “Why do you have to lie for such an insignificant thing?” said he and went back to his Masjid.
---------------------------------------------------------------

It is because of deceit and untruthfulness that people are submerging in the ocean of sorrows and becoming estranged from God.

They are being entangled in karma of their own creation and are falling from the right path. The foremost sin is untruthfulness. God’s grace is never upon those who tell lies. He is the slave of those who are ever truthful and honest.

The sadhanas of japa or penance are nothing when compared to the sadhana of being honest and truthful. Truth is the basis and foundation of all dharma. Truth is the easy way for moksha. Truth is eternal bliss. Never forget truth and ever abide by it.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Sri Sainatha had thus returned to the Masjid without speaking harshly to the merchants who he knew were telling lies. He then did a wonderful thing.

He placed the earthen lamps all around the Masjid and placed wicks in them. The whole village had come to know by now and had gathered at the Masjid to watch the fun.

They talked amongst themselves. “How can lamps be lit without oil? This Sai seems to be very insane. Does the lifeless seed ever sprout? Does the barren woman ever give birth to a child and fill the household with joy?
---------------------------------------------------------------

Do the wise ever believe these to be possible? This mad man is trying to light lamps without oil. He is indeed without doubt the king amongst mad men and emperor of the insane”.

The villagers started to heckle Baba thus. Baba took the tin, which had a little oil remaining at its bottom, and went back in to the Masjid.

Nanasahab Dengale saw the people making fun of Baba and insulting him. He said, “You people are blind. Do not heckle him and make fun of him in your ignorance. Only the God knows the extent of his power.

Do we mistakenly discard in haste the jewel, which has fallen down amongst the rocks? Do not judge him in a hurry. Let us wait a while and see what this fakir will do. Why should we be in such a haste to condemn him?”
---------------------------------------------------------------

All were seated silently in the Masjid. Baba had sufficient oil to light only one lamp in his tin. Baba poured a little water, approximately half the volume of oil, into the tin of oil and closed his eyes in meditation.

He took a little of the mixture of oil and water into his mouth and spat it back into the tin after gargling. He poured the mixture in to all the lamps.

Incredibly there was sufficient oil for all the lamps now. He lit the lamps and they burned brightly throughout the night. Dengale was wonderstruck at this example of Baba’s divine power. He reverently saluted his feet.

The people were all stunned by this wonderful miracle of Baba. They exclaimed, “How wonderful is this Baba’s leela? Baba is none but God.” They all knelt in front of Baba.

“Baba, we have committed a great sin by making fun of you. We are all your children. You are our real mother. Please do not be angry with us. Sai Maharaj, Oh! Mountain of compassion, please excuse our mistakes. You are verily the ocean of mercy; you are the effulgent sun shining in the sky of right knowledge.

You are the vast sea containing all the good qualities. You are verily the mountain of peace.”
---------------------------------------------------------------

They all prayed to Baba not to be angry with them and to protect them. Baba spoke thus, “Hear and heed my words, Oh people. Behave always in the manner pleasing to the almighty.

Never tell lies. If you stick to the truth, God will be pleased and stick with you. Do not cause any hardship to anyone. Give to the poor in charity as much as you can. You will gain merit by such charity and good will happen to you.

By such conduct God will be pleased with you and give you his Divine vision at the end. This is the truth. Embed these words of mine in your hearts and follow them always.” The people of Shirdi listened very happily to the teaching of Sri Sai Baba and went back to their homes contentedly.

Sri Yantra ~ Sri Chakra

Aum Sai Ram.

In the Shri Vidya school of Hindu Tantra, the Sri Yantra ("sacred [Sri Chakra]"), is a diagram formed by nine interlocking triangles that surround and Radiate out from the central (bindu) point.

The two dimensional Sri Chakra, when it is projected into three dimensions is called a Maha Meru. Mount Meru derives its name from this Meru like shape.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

It represents the goddess in her form of Shri Lalita or Tripura Sundari, "the beauty of the three worlds" (Bhoo, Bhuva and Swa). The worship of the Sri Chakra is central to the Shri Vidya system of Hindu worship.

Four isosceles triangles with the apices upwards, representing Shiva or the Masculine. Five isosceles triangles with the apices downward, symbolizing female embodiment Shakti.

Thus the Sri Yantra also represents the union of Masculine and Feminine Divine. Because it is composed of nine triangles, it is known as theNavayoni Chakra.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

"These Nine Triangles are of various sizes and intersect with one another. In the middle is the power point (bindu), visualizing the highest, the invisible, elusive centre from which the entire figure and the cosmos expand.

The triangles are enclosed by two rows of (8 and 16) petals, representing the lotus of creation and reproductive vital force. The broken lines of the outer frame denote the figure to be a sanctuary with four openings to the regions of the universe".
-----------------------------------------------------------------

In a recent issue of Brahmavidya, the journal of the Adyar Library, Subhash Kak argues that the description of Sri Yantra is identical to the yantra described in the Śvetāśvatara Upanisad.

Together the nine triangles are interlaced in such a way as to form 43 smaller triangles in a web symbolic of the entire cosmos or a womb symbolic of creation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Together they express Advaita or non-duality. This is surrounded by a lotus of eight petals, a lotus of sixteen petals, and an earth square resembling a temple with four doors. The various deities residing in the nine layers of the Sri Yantra are described in the Devi Khadgamala Mantra.

The Shri Chakra is also known as the Nav Chakra because it can also be seen as having nine levels. "Nine" comes from "Nau or Nava" of Sanskrit. Each level corresponds to amudra, a yogini, and a specific form of the deity Tripura Sundari along with her mantra. These levels starting from the outside or bottom layer are:

Trailokya Mohan or Bhupar, a square of three lines with four portals

Sarva Aasa Paripurak, a sixteen-petal lotus

Sarva Sankshobahan, an eight-petal lotus

Sarva Saubhagyadayak, composed of fourteen small triangles

Sarva Arthasadhak, composed of ten small triangles

Sarva Rakshakar, composed of ten small triangles

Sarva Rogahar, composed of eight small triangles

Sarva Siddhiprada, composed of 1 small triangle

Sarva Anandamay, composed of a point or bindu.

The Sri Chakra (called the Shri Yantra) is the symbol of Hindu tantra, which is based on the Hindu philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism. The Sri Yantra is the object of devotion in Sri Vidya.

Shirdi Sai Baba: Paradox On the Rocks.

Aum Sai Ram.

‪‎Shirdi‬ Sai Baba would speak in cryptic and highly symbolic manner. He would often speak paradoxically leaving his devotees to work out the answers. Here are a few instances:
--------------------------------------------------------------

1) ‪sai baba‬. (re: a person of Harda who had just died):
How can he die? In the morning, he will come to life.

(The relations of the deceased were looking for the revival of the corpse and were disappointed. Baba referred to survival of personality and taking up a new body in the next birth.)
--------------------------------------------------------------

2) H.S.Dixit to Baba: Nana Saheb Karambelkar writes that his wife and brother are unwell and wants your help for their recovery.

Baba: The brother will recover.

H.S.Dixit: The lady?

Baba: Is she come?

H.S.Dixit: No, but shall we send for her ?

Baba: Yes.

The brother recovered and the lady died.

'Is she come?' means, in "sukshma sarira (Soul). After Death."
--------------------------------------------------------------

3) H.S.Dixit wished to help a devotee at shirdi who was in pecuniary diffculties, but who would not accept any presents. So he enclosed the money in an envelope and went to Baba.

H.S.Dixit: Baba. Shall I send this letter?

Baba: Yes.

H.S.Dixit send it at once; and it was accepted.

The devotee gave the explanation that 2 hours earlier the wife of that devotee went to Baba.

Baba: Mother, I am coming to your house. Tell your husband, not to reject me.
--------------------------------------------------------------

4) Uddhavesa Bua was writing a letter to Baba every ‪‎Ekadasi‬ day i.e., once in 15 days. He visited Baba some months before Baba passed away.

Baba: Well go. You need not be coming here every fifteen days, I am always with you and will ever be. Tell all people there (i.e., convey my best wishes to all.)

This was really bidding farewell. Uddhavesa did not however understand it, but somehow owing to forgetfulness, he did not send his Ekadasi letter thereafter.

Obviously Baba's reference to the 15 days, visit was a reference to these letters.
--------------------------------------------------------------

5) When Shama was stung by a snake and went to Baba at the mosque.

Baba: Do not get up Brahmin. Get back. Descend !

Shama was afraid that this was an order to him not to climb.

Baba a little later: Come up. The fakir (God), is kind. You will be cured. (Then Shama discovered that the first spoken words were addressed to the poison so that it should not creep up the body of the Brahmin.)

Salagrama Stones.

Aum Sai Ram.

Salagrama.

Why are these stones called Salagrama?
How to Identify the divine Salagrama?
----------------------------------------------------------

That is due to a story in the Varaha Purana 144 -145, which says that once there was a sage by the name Shalankayana, who was performing austerities and devotional meditation in many holy places with the view to gain a great devotee of Lord Vihsnu as his son.

He visited the sacred tirtha (holy place) of Muktinatha in present day Northern Nepal, high in the Himalayas, and took his bath in the icy waters of the Kali Gantaki at the back of Annapurna mountain.

Extremely tired from his climb in the high altitude, he finally took rest under a sala tree. The geographic location of the Annapurna (Shaligram Tirtha) region.

Fast asleep on the eastern side of the tree, he didn't notice that the Lord Krishna had come and stood before him. Then by the Lord's mercy the sage awoke and saw his Lord standing there and immediately propitiated him with melodious Vedic mantras.

The Lord then fulfilled the desire of the sage and gave him a son on the spot, and being pleased with his devotional attitude, gave another boon.

Krishna informed that from that day (the dwadasi in the sukla paksa of the month of Vaisaka) He would eternally stay on the area of that mountain in the form of the Salagrama stone.

Actually there was no sala tree there at that time - it was a special self-manifesting mercy incarnation of the Lord appearing for His devotee.

So in the same way, the Lord continued to tell the sage that in the self-manifesting form of the Salagrama - Shila He will reside there, and the devotees can take Him in this form and worship Him, and He will reciprocate their love in that way.

This is confirmed in the Mahabharata (Vana Parva Ch 84, 123-125), where it is said the name Salagram is given to Lord Vishnu who resides in the Salagrama at the Salagram Tirtha.
----------------------------------------------------------

How to Identify the divine Salagrama?

The details to be examined are the shape and the colour of the stone, the number and location of chakra-marks, the type of filaments that are present in the crevices and fissures and the deity-identity.

Of the large number of deity - specific salagrama - stones, three are held especially sacred: Vishnu - salagrama (identified by the chakra in the shape of a garland, and by the marks of conch, mace and lotus), Lakshmi - Narasimha - salagrama (having two chakras on the left side of the opening or vadana, and dots and specks all over the body), Matsya - Murti - salagrama (fish shaped flat stone with a single opening and two chakras, one of them inside the opening and the other outside; having dots and specks on the body resembling a foot-print).

A salagrama with no openings but having two chakras on the surface is usually considered ferocious (ugra), and is either avoided or worshipped especially elaborately.

The Matsya Murti salagrama is particularly recommended when it has a chakra on the tail portion (viz. Rear).

Authorities like Vrddha - Gautama indicate that brahmanas may worship five Salagramas, kshatriyas eight, vaishyas seven and shudras seven; for ascetics four Salagramas are suggested.

Sai Experiences of RAO SAHEB V. P. IYER as Naratted by Mrs. Hirabai Iyer.

Aum Sai Ram.

In Shirdi, near the temple of Sri Sai Baba is the Lendi garden. There are a few Samadhis to the right side of the entrance of the garden and one of them is of Rao Saheb V. P. Iyer.

He was my husband. He breathed his last at Lakshmiwadi which is four and a half miles from Shirdi - Kopargaon Road. I was at Lucknow at that time when I got a telegram informing me about his death. I wished to see the place where he had passed away and I went there.

The children and I reached the place four days after his death. When the people of Shirdi knew that I had come to Lakshmiwadi, many came to console me and talked about my husband.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Mr. V. P. lyer was a Sugar Technologist. He worked at various sugar factories. I had settled in Lucknow for the sake of the education of my children. When the contract for his work was over, my husband would come and stay at Lucknow till he again got a contract for a job in another sugar factory.
---------------------------------------------------------------

For the 1943-44 sugar seasons, he did not have a job and so he was at Lucknow. He was not worried about it for he had absolute faith in Baba. He said that why should he worry, for Baba will do what is best for him.

He was happy that he had more time now to pray to Sai Baba. Before having his meals he would offer the food to his beloved Baba.

He would have all the various dishes served in the Thali, even raw onions and salad and offer the food to Baba. He would sit with eyes closed for a few minutes and then start eating. When someone told him not to offer raw onions, he replied that Baba would like it because it was a side dish for the poor.
---------------------------------------------------------------

He had sent applications for a job and he got one in November 1944. He got a contract to work in the Lakshmiwadi Sugar Mills, at Lakshmiwadi near Kopargaon. When he saw the letter he said "Baba's grace is great and he has called me near him".

He went to Lakshmiwadi and joined duty. He was happy for, now he could go to Shirdi whenever he got time. He often went in the evenings and returned late at night.

As he stood in prayer at Baba's Samadhi he forgot everything. Many a time people there reminded him that he should go home as it was getting late. With great reluctance he would leave the Mandir and return home. His only wish seemed to be near Baba all the time.
---------------------------------------------------------------

His desire to be with Baba was so great that he wrote in the letters to me that he wanted to stay at Shirdi and not leave the place.

When his friends there heard this they advised him against it. They told him that he cannot think of such a thing. He must work and provide for the family till the children are grown up and able to look after themselves.

His only reply was that he did not want to leave Baba and go, and that he wanted only to stay at Shirdi. In May 1945 the season was over and his work there was finished.

Mr. Iyer wrote a report and submitted it to the factory management on the 26th of May, and thought of leaving Kopargaon on the 27th of May for Lucknow.

Two of my sons had gone to Lakshmiwadi to spend a part of the summer vacation with their father. So they were there during his last days.
---------------------------------------------------------------

On the evening of the 26th, he went to Shirdi to have the darshan of Baba. The Mandir was not as it is today. It was small. Only the Samadhi of Sai Baba was there and there was no statue.

He stood near a pillar in front of the Samadhi with his eyes closed. Sometimes tears would come from his eyes and he was not conscious of his surroundings. Some persons tried to talk to him but he did not respond.

At about 9 pm. he came out of the trance. With great reluctance he left the Mandir to return home.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Since he was leaving Shirdi, he said good-bye to the many persons whom he knew. He felt no difference whether they were rich or poor.

All were the same to him. When he said goodbye, tears were shed on either side. He reached home at about 11 pm. and after dinner went to bed.

At about 2 am. he woke his sons and said that he was ill. The neighbor was informed and he called the doctor The doctor came and diagnosed it as cholera and gave medicine.

By morning he had become very weak. By noon he was only half conscious. He was lying quietly with eyes closed. At times he would open his eyes and look at Baba's photo which was on the opposite wall.

He was oblivious of his surroundings except for Baba At about 4.30 pm. he opened his eyes and beckoned to the person standing near him.

When that person went to him and asked him what he wanted, he made a sign that he wanted the picture of Sai Baba. It was removed from the wall and brought to him. He opened his arms and with his eyes indicated that the picture should be put on his chest. He then embraced Baba and said "Baba, Sai Baba, Baba" and smiling, breathed his last.
---------------------------------------------------------------

When the people heard of the death of Mr. Iyer, they were shocked and grieved, for the night before he was well and now no more.

Large number of people came from Shirdi walking, not minding the distance and the time for they all loved him. He was cremated late at night.

The people of Shirdi approached the Samsthan and requested that a Samadhi be built of Mr. Iyer and they agreed. His ashes were buried and the Samadhi was built and the name and date were engraved on it.

Baba heard the prayer of his Bhakta and fulfilled the wish and kept the loving Bhakta near him forever. Baba has looked after me and my six children.

They are all educated and well placed. All are married and have children and are devotees of Sai Baba. I submit to His will and have had no fear for I have complete faith in Sai Baba.

Shirdi Saibaba: Doctered Doctor

Aum Sai Ram.

Doctor Rustomji, a Homeopath was once engaged in Homeopathic medicines in a homeopathy dispensary at Shirdi. He was due Rs. 300/- to party in Bombay. The doctor made a cheque for that amount and passed it on to his friend telling him that he would cash it when he liked. On returning home however, the doctor found much to his dismay that his pass book showed that he had not that much balance in his account. He thought what his friend would think about him if his cheque was dishonoured.
------------------------------------------------------

The doctor pleaded with Sai Baba with implicit faith to get him out of this trouble. After some days a casual acquaintance called on him and asked him if he would keep a small packet for him which he would come and claim after three months. The doctor was surprised at this unusual request and asked the man what the packet contained? "It contained a sum of Rs. 300/- was the amazing reply.”

"Do you mind if I use the money" asked the doctor promptly. The gentleman said he did not mind what the doctor did, so long as the money was returned to him when he came to claim it after 3 months. The doctor rushed to the bank and after ascertaining that his cheque had not yet been presented, he paid the amount in his account and felt relief. His honour was saved.
------------------------------------------------------

3 months passed, the man who had given Rs.300/- had not turned up. After 6 months, the doctor suddenly saw the gentleman on the road side. He suddenly went out to him and after greetings were exchanged, the doctor said to him "why did you not claimed your money all these months?" But the man said that he had not given any money to the Doctor.

Thinking that he was joking tried to press the packet of notes into his hands. But the gentleman vehemently denied having visited Shirdi or even given the doctor any money at all!
------------------------------------------------------

The doctor was then spell bound and became known that this was the extraordinary sport of the Divine Incarnate Shri Sai Baba !!!
